The weight is really nice for strength training. The heft of the blade is very impressive, and I expected it to do me well in combat against my friends. HOWEVER, I was VERY disappointed in how it held up. My friend has just a standard, no-frills bokken, and it's ripping this suburito apart. In one spot it was dinged up so bad I had to wrap it with athletic tape just so I wouldn't get a splinter every time I touched the blade. I was wrong in assuming that a larger heavier blade would be effective. Bottom line: good for conditioning but NOT for sparring.
