Customer Review of the Burnt Rattan Escrima Stick

I practice Kali/Escrima, and will use these sticks for stick-to-stick contact drills such as sinawali, redonda, and reverse redonda. No rattan stick lasts forever in this usage, but these look and feel like they will do nicely. Good diameter (about 1", and even between the two sticks I got), good weight, good hardness.
Note to martial artists: wrapping these with the black teflon-coated kevlar tape from CS Hyde Co. makes them work better and last 3-4 times longer than just electrical tape. It costs a bit ($35/roll), but it's worth it in the end. Just wrap the contact part that usually splinters (8 inch zone, stopping 2 inches before the distal end of the stick) in a spiral pattern. Their PEEK tape works well too, but not as well as kevlar.
