Well made piece of gear! Double padding at forehead and at base of skull to protect against knockdown impacts. Nice pockets (with special channels to prevent air pressure damage to ears) for ears. Padding is lightweight but thick and resilient. Good ventilation and easy to keep clean. Note that there is little padding over the mouth - some of us like this, some don't. Small extensions over cheeks help protect face better than other open-face headguards without a grill. Good equipment for non-contact sparring (or, for those of us whose control isn't what it used to be, semi-contact).
