Should I get this bag?

I've been doing martial arts for a bit over a decade, 23 yrs, 185lbs and I hit like a monster. Should I opt out for a heavier standing punching bag? Like the wavemaster XXL?

These can take plenty of punishment, however if you practice a lot of thrusting techniques they can tip over from time to time. Wavemaster XXLs do provide more weight and a more substantial basin if you want to spend the extra $$ for one.

Hey Carl. Read more about our return policies here - http://www.karatedepot.com/csupport-exchange.html.

It probably wouldn't be good to expose this bag to rain. Also, in cold weather the water in the basin may freeze and crack the plastic.

Hi Mik. Here are some things to consider:

* The everflex is about half the price of the wavemaster
* the wavemaster has a much larger striking surface that extends downward for low techniques
* the wavemaster tends to be heavier, and thus will move around less
* the everflex is easier to move around and has an adjustable striking height
* the wavemaster has higher durability and will likely last longer

is this a good fit for me?

I trained in taekwondo and brazil Ian jui jitsu for 7 years but really haven't practiced for a couple years my kicks and punches are still pretty good though. Would this be good for me, I am 5'9" and 160 pounds

Yea this would serve you well! Be aware though that this standing bag doesn't provide the same strong resistance against thrusting techniques as a solid hanging heavy bag would.

Outdoor use?

My daughter (17) has asked for a bag, and I think this would be good for us both. We have zero experience with this. She wants to tone and strengthen arms, and I need cardio (for starters!)
It will be stored and used outdoors,on a covered patio.
What do you think...is it a good choice for us?
Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

Jen - yes I think this would be a good option for you. If you keep it under a covered patio the bag should not incur much weather damage.

Keep one thing in mind - the bottom basin must be filled with sand or water in order for the bag to stay stable. If you fill it with water, and live in a climate that gets cold weather, the water will freeze and you'll risk cracking the plastic. In such a situation, I recommend sand as well as a non-slip pad or two underneath the bottom.

Good bag for kids ages 9 and 11 or a small adult

I am looking for a good punching bag for my family. We are relatively small. Will this bag work for punching for my kids. They are a bit over 4 feet. I am only 5'2". What is the price for the full body bag is this is not going to work.

Yes this bag will actually work fine. You can adjust it to a pretty short setting.

This is a perfect bag for speed work and tech. It's not a heavy bag so don't expect to be able to kick the heck out of it. I like training with it, does what I want. I would definitely recommend this bag. Shipping was incredible, I got it two days after I ordered it.

Great Product, Great Company

I've had the bag for three weeks now, and I couldn't be more happy with it. The bag will move a little if I really give it a good kick, but in terms of punching the bag doesn't move much. I'm 5'8, 170 lbs.

Also, great for teenage kids. My younger brother loves the bag since it's a good way for him to practice his punching/kicking and get a good cardio work-out.

Karatedepot.com was also really amazing. The bag was missing the screw-cap for the base when it arrived, but customer service was extremely nice and helpful. Two days later I had the top. Excellent product, excellent customer service.

GOOD BAG FOR SOME

This is a great bag but I would warn some bigger people that this bag might not be right for you. I am 225 pounds and I have no trouble moving this bag from one side of my room to another. It just doesn't weigh enough. I have filled the tank with 24 gallons of water and it isn't enough. Overall the bag is as advertised. I would recommend.

Hey Nick. Yes, you could definitely use this, especially if you fill the basin up all the way with water or sandbags. It's important to note though that this bag doesn't provide the same solid resistance as a hanging heavy bag. It tends to give more.

FOR ME?

I'm 6'3, 250 (44 yrs). Will this bag hold up. It won't be used for "serious" work outs, just something to hit and put some movement in a workout.

These things can actually take some nice abuse jwalt. However if you have them on a slippery surface they'll shift around a bit. I actually like that because it aids in movement and reassessing engagement distance.

It's been great! Putting all the sand in is quite annoying, but it's definitely been great to have in our house!

Kids want a punching bag

Would this bag work for my son's? One is 9, about 80 pounds, and 4 foot 9. The other is only 7, about 60 pounds, and 4 foot 3.

It might be a little tall for them at first, especially for kicking. This bag, while a little pricier, does offer full body length - tr-bg-771.

For a beginning woman.

Is this bag a good starter for a 5'4" woman? Honestly, I want to use it for taking out aggression (and to tone up some). I'm not in martial arts or anything in that nature.

Hi eb. Yes I think this would be a great starter bag for you. You can put it anywhere and the striking surface is very forgiving.

Be sure to stretch out before working out on it.

This bag is actually a bit softer than a lot of heavy bags, especially sand filled ones. It is foam filled and good for the joints and knuckles.
