I'm a beginner in Muay Thai. Petite female, 5'2" 105 lb. Is a 100 lb bag recommended for me or would you suggest something lighter?

Muay Thai is a powerful art, but since you are a beginner I might recommend starting with an 80lb bag instead. Make sure you get some good gloves either way.

The user is 6'1" 210lbs. Will 80 lbs be enough as he progresses from beginner?

Does this bag come with a beam bracket and chain assembly?

Does this bag have a double-end tether?

What wrist/hand protection would you recommend with this bag?

Hi Rebecca. Let's go down the list:

1. 80lbs will be fine as a beginner. Eventually he could use 100lbs safely, however this bag will always be good for footwork since it will swing around more for him.

2. This bag does come with a chain assembly, but not a beam bracket. You can browse those here: http://www.karatedepot.com/bag-mounts.html.

3. This bag has a loop on the bottom that can accommodate a double end elastic tether, but it does not come with the tether or the floor mount.

4. This bag is user friendly, so as long as you get him a size large in gloves you should be fine. You can browse according to your budget: http://www.karatedepot.com/baggloves.html. You can also grab a pair of handwraps on the cheap: http://www.karatedepot.com/boxing-accessories.html.

Hope this helps!

Does the 80 pound bag come with chains to hang it from?

Yes it does, although it does not come with a ceiling mount. If you need a hook style unit to connect the chains to your ceiling, you'll want to browse here: http://www.karatedepot.com/bag-mounts.html.

Hi Chelsey. The 80lb bag measures about 43.3L x 14W x 14H inches. You can adjust a bit less or more for different weight bags.

Proper bag weight?

I'm a 6'1" 210 pound man, and am interested in a heavybag for me. I'd also like to have one for my children, who range from 8 to 16 years old, and weigh between 60 and 140 pounds. Is there one bag that would be safe and useful for all of us? Is there a formula for what weight is right for a person?

Hey John. The tricky thing is getting a bag that is light enough to be fun for the kids but also provides some training for you. Ultimately, I think you could go with something like a 60 or 70lb bag and just make sure the kids use good gloves whenever hitting it. That way, while the bag may be too firm for them, the gloves will absorb the impact and keep the hands safe.

Beam mount

Really thinking about getting the 100lbs one. I'm a beginner, never bought a bag before. Any tips? I'm 5'7", 150lbs. I was also wondering if the bag came with a Wooden Beam mount, if not could I order it separately from this site? Thanks!

Hey John. If I had to make a recommendation, I would say for your body weight and beginner status an 80lb bag would be more suitable.

A heavier bag won't necessarily make you stronger or better any quicker than a lighter bag. In fact, if a bag is too heavy for your body type and level you could end up injuring your joints and getting zero sway from it (which helps footwork practice).

Whatever you choose to go with, you would have to get a wooden beam mount separate, which you can find here - bx-ac-36.

Hope this helps!

80 pound Nevatear Punching Bag

I've had this bag for around six months now, and myself and my two roommates use it daily. It has held up well beyond my expectations, it still looks almost new. I use it in a lightly heated(around 50 degrees) room, and it has not taken in any moisture or anything like that. Very happy with it, definitely recommend it.

I recently purchased the Nevatear 80lb bag. I returned the bag because the display bag had chains (which allows you to adjust the height). When I opened the box at home there were straps instead of the chains. I would like to order the bag from your site only if the bags had chains instead of the straps. I noticed the pic has chains (good) not straps. Please let me know.

Hi T. Did you order the original 80lb bag from us, or a different vendor? This will help me in figuring out if the image is accurate or if there is an issue.

outdoor use

would this bag wear out if i used it outside?

Outdoors is always a little tougher on bags than indoors. No matter which one you get, it's going to be subjected to weather change, wildlife (think birds and their body functions), and so on.

That all being said, if you want a bag outside, go with this one. The nevatear can handle it better than leather and the interior material won't freeze up on you.
