Excellent bottom. Flexible in middle, stable and flat on heel and toe. Very durable. I've been looking for a shoe like this for some time. Excellent turning capability. For slip-in shoes, fit well and are snug. Good for school hardwood, mat or carpet.
Good for street wear as well. Order 1 size larger if you have wide feet. And they do fit wide feet! Something very difficult to find in any martial arts shoes!

KD Martial Arts Shoes

I have three martial arts students in my home and equipment can get expensive really quickly. When I saw the price on these, I ordered them immediately. I haven't found anything approaching this price either online or in stores in my area. The quality is better than I expected and the shoe is comfortable and flexible. I have a wide foot and these don't squeeze like other martial arts shoes I have tried (I ordered 1/2 size larger than my usual size). Overall, I am impressed by the fit and price of these shoes, now to see how long they hold up in training. Also, Karate Depot has the fastest shipping I have ever experienced from any online store I have bought from.

Quality Has Gone DOWN Drastically

This review is for my second pair. My first pair I used for about a year ago and used day in day out 7 days a week and lasted a year max until the right one couldn't take any more use. The second pair however are made of a much cheaper material, after using it about 3 months, 2-3 times a week, the material has already begun to come apart near the top of the shoe and the sole. The elastic seam has ripped near the top so my shoe is all loose when i practice. I can not see these shoes lasting any more than another month.

Not as good as I'd hoped

These shoes are OK, but not anywhere as good as I'd hoped. These might make decent yoga shoes or gym slippers, but I don't find them useful for martial arts at all -- especially not grappling of any sort. Because they are slip-on, and I knew I was taking a chance with this feature, they come off very easily. I find them annoying when sparring or even doing bag work in them. I doubt I'd even like them much for kata. Also, the stitching on the edge of the sole is already (only had them 2 months) starting to fray. I advise spending an additional $10 to $20 and get a real pair of martial arts shoes.

Great for Kung Fu

I ordered Disciplines once before off e-bay and was very disappointed with the order, so I was mildly wary going into this purchase. You don't have to be. I ordered on Wednesday and they arrived on Friday (I live in CO). The shoes themselves are great. I have wide feet and bought the normal shoe size I wear (10.5) and the shoes fit with no discomfort what so ever. I train 7 Star Praying Mantis indoors on two types of flooring. On hardwood the grip slips on wide stances if the proper stance is not being held - a possible bad but most definite good for those who pay attention to detail. On concrete there are no issues. I had to put in my own insole for arch support (otherwise my ankle collapses in), but the shoe itself is good for traditional Kung Fu.

Shoes

I have extremely narrow feet and wear size 9 1/2 women's shoe. Will these shoes fit and what size do you suggest?

Yes these would fit. The only better pair for you might be these: cl-sh-08 as they hug the foot more snugly.

I recommend a size 8.

Didn't meet my needs all the way

Currently training in Krav Maga. The studio has 100% mat base. Most of those training wear running shoes. This was my second pair of Discipline shoes; my first where the lace type and worked well for about a year and a half. The sole started to come off those.

I purchased these ones because I no longer wanted to deal with the laces and all the reviews are very positive.

All in all, these shoes have potential, but they became a little too loose on me fairly quickly; within about 8 times of wearing. Which was weird because they were way too tight at the beginning but, with the 1st Discipline shoes being the same, I expected a bit of stretching....which they did. But to a level I didn't feel comfortable with for kicks, running drills, etc.

Previous training was in TKD, Kung Fu, and now Krav and I don't think that the drills are that different; but, maybe they are and it caused me to wear them differently.

Really Great Shoe!

My son who is nine wears them and loves them. We went up a 1/2 size because he does wear them with socks. He didn't feel quite right wearing shoes without socks. I had ordered a 5 but exchanged for a 5.5. Very happy with the customer service quick turn around. I have already recommended other parents to Karate Depot!

You could wear socks with these if you wanted to, but probably wouldn't in a dojo setting.

A Big Hit

My 11 year old grandson love these! It was a big hit and the shoes were not even on his Christmas list. He has very wide feet, but these were very roomy, and do not cut into his foot, as was my concern. He loves the 'no tie' feature. Great product - Great price.

The shoes run small so when I got them my son could not even put his foot in them. The shoes did get here fast and the process was very straight forward and easy to do. If you buy these just order them a little big

grip

How good is the grip? Will it stick to somewhat slick surfaces or concrete? Also, is it able to flex much at the bottom so I can point my toes downward?

The grip is good, it should provide stability on surfaces like concrete. The bottom is not that flexible, it's more like a normal shoe sole.

Great Shoes!

Our dojo recently moved to a new location that has carpet that seems like it was laid right on concrete! We won't get mats until spring. These shoes are saving my feet and I love them so much I might continue wearing them for extra support even after we get the mats.

Great choice

This is the first shoe I tried off this website and it's definitely a good pick. Good traction, flexible, and the slip-in design fits well. If you DON'T have wide feet, order the size you normally wear for street shoes and it should fit nicely.

GOOD SHOES

I mostly got these due to the reviews here indicating they were a good choice for those with wide feet. I usually wear NB shoes 11and half 4Es. I ordered these in a 12 and they seem like pretty decent fit. The width and length are perfect. My only concern was that since there are no laces they feel like they might slip off, but so far so good.

how is the arch support in these shows

It's not bad, but not quite the same as regular shoes with attention to arches. If you need special arch support you might have to get inserts.

I ordered these shoes as the 4th toes on both of my feet are slightly mishapen (curling under my 3rd toe) and they have a tendency to catch on the seams in the mats at my school. After breaking one toe and spraining another in 2 weeks, I decided to get some shoes! I ordered based on others reviews on this site and am very pleased. The shoes are light, supportive, and allow me to turn/pivot for kicks very well. I really don't notice that I have them on, except for the fact that I am not worried about catching my toes on seams any longer. Excellent product for the price.
