When I took taekwondo, I didn't need to wear shoes for the class, so when I switched to a different style and shoes were required, I knew I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing my usual tennis shoes. I got these in the mail a full week early, and they are so incredibly light. Today in class, I forgot I was wearing them! I am really pleased with these shoes, though I would have preferred them in black.

These are the most comfortable shoes EVER! Barefoot indeed; lightweight yet cushioned, I wish they had more colors in my size. I bought these to practice tai chi and tae kwon do, and I highly recommend these shoes for any activity. Also note, they are true to size, unlike some other martial arts shoes.

How get these shoes in what would be a mens size thirteen? I like the way these shoes look and the color pink.

That would probably be a woman's size 11

Okiken, I think you have it backwards.... a Woman's size 11 is only a Men's size 9.
That is exactly why I like the European size....

That is The women's 11 here is a 42 EU. a men's 13 is a 46 EU

...and I may have just answered my own question about the difference from 9 1/2 barefoot to the 11 with socks.

Comfort

I am taking Karate which doesn't necessarily wear shoes but I was told that it would be ok because I have issues with the heal of my left foot. So my question is: Are these comfortable? When you say they are a barefoot feel does that mean they will not have support of custion???

Hi Tennie. They are definitely comfortable, however martial arts shoes in general don't offer as much support and cushion as regular shoes. They go for a more barefoot feel.

If you go with a brand like this - cl-sh-08. you may be able to augment them with sole inserts.

Other sizes

Will these shoes be available in other sizes? I wear a women's size 7.5 and would like to try a pair but you don't have my size.

The slide of these shoes will depend on the floor type. I don't think you'll find them enhancing to your slide, but I can't be sure.

The shoes with the best slide are cotton soled kung fu shoes.

supply has disappeared

I love these shoes. I just ordered my 7th and 8th pair. I have a size 11 narrow foot that is hard to fit. I have been wearing them for tai chi for 6 years. They are flexible and give just enough support, very comfortable. When I first ordered them 6 years ago they came in reasonable colors of white and beige. Now they are only in (ugh) blue and pink. I have always wanted them in black but that has never been. Now they are only available in two sizes, luckily one was mine. I guess they are never coming back which is why I bought a pink and a blue pair to save until the ones I am wearing now wear out. I went to Chinatown in NYC looking for something comparable. Nothing fit. Why doesn't Discipline realize what a gem these are and continue the manufacture?

Poor Fit For REAL Feet

I ordered these in pink and blue. They are poorly designed...the toe box is too narrow while the ankle and instep are too wide. Also, there is plastic trim on the outside of the instep, making this area stiff, and pushing the foot, making it roll towards the instep. This is NOT good, it makes the foot PRONATE!!! BETTER TO GO BAREFOOT!!!

Also...blue pair was obviously used...the sole was soiled, as if it had been worn, walked in outside. NEVER AGAIN WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!

Hey kareleebear. Sorry you had a bad experience with these shoes! I think it's clear your body type didn't agree with the design. As for the soiled sole - Please feel free to send them back to us for a full refund or exchange. Not sure how that happened, but that's not how we do business so we'd be happy to rectify the matter. Contact us at csupport@karatedepot.com and supply the order number.

I got a pair in 9 1/2 how is the 11?

I got a pink pair in 9 1/2 and absolutely love them.
I don't use them for Taekwondo but for traveling to and from class.

They fit great however, I'm a bit uncomfortable with a shoe on my foot without socks of some sort. Pantyhose are out of the question as it is the same as barefoot. My feet perspire and I need to change my socks or shoes often.

How does the size 11 fit? Will they be too long for me? (the 9 1/2 fit exactly without socks)

Pivoting

How are these shoes when it comes to pivoting on kicks? Do they turn easily or is there grip on the floor/mat?

These shoes do put an emphasis on grip. Pivoting is certainly possible but you might find it a bit more difficult than when barefoot.
