I have worn these for years, when they wear out I just buy another pair. Just a comfortable shoe to wear anywhere.

I have been wearing this style of shoe, mostly for the comfortability and old style training for many years. Back in the day when I fought full contact, with little protective gear in Hawaii, you ended up kicking them off. Usually they would slip off or someone would step on them. Great to wear around the Dojo or Kwoon. Run on a gravel road with them and toughen your feet. The sole does have an unusual smell to them that was not there in the older shoes I have bought over the last 20 years. I set them out in the sun for a couple of days and smell is not foul as it was before. Other than that it is a shoe that we used to wear in Kempo and some Chinese Martial Arts I studied through the years.

I am sorry having to say this. These shoes disappointed me. The sole is of a particularly HEAVY plastic. The inside of the sole has serious pimples left over from the cast. The borders are higher and sharp too. The fabric padding is absolutely lacking to cover these. You could rip out the insole and rasp that away and craft a new insole ...but it's not worth the effort, you still have a shoe which is too heavy.

I like. I opted for the plastic sole jobbies. There was the smell many people talk about, but I did not find it objectionable. I find the traction good, and hardly notice that I’m wearing a shoe. I wear 9 and 1/2; and ordered 9, rightly or wrongly? They feel a little snug at the toe, but so far no problem as the material is stretchy. Am curious about the size 10, but I fear they maybe too large. I wish that they came in half sizes. Without socks a get lateral play at the heel. With socks they fit like a second skin, or a part of my foot. They are lighter and take up less room in my backpack then previous shoes. I am considering wearing them when traveling as they are more airport friendly than my cowboy boots.

These are almost as comfortable as the cotton soled ones and have become my regular casual shoes. The only downside is the smell of the sole - yuck. I expected this (from the reviews) and plan to buy more after these wear out. Until the smell dies down, I keep them on the porch. You just can't beat the combination of comfort and price. One more thing - the plastic is a bit hard, but softens a bit with use and scuffing.

I am very impressed with these shoes. They are very light and comfortable. I'm an 11 wide and I usually wear 12's, but I bought 11's because I didn't want them to be loose at all. I've had them for a few days and they fit great. They do smell funny and I had to scuff the soles a little, because they were really slippery on my hardwood floors. I love them. I don't actively practice any martial arts; I do mostly bodyweight calisthenics (Matt Furey's Combat Conditioning) and some of the stretching and conditioning I remember from my old Isshinryu Karate class I took in college. I can't find a better shoe for what I do.

I purchased these shoes, and got them with in 3 business days, pretty good deal! The only thing is that the shoes do not grip well on hardwood and linoleum flooring, on the latter it scuffs, and hardwood it just slips around, my sifu said to sand them down, and maybe add some adhesive to the bottom.

The Kung fu shoes are great! they are so light I do not even know I have them on. I wear them to my karate school all the time.

These shoes are awesome! Grippy comfy and of course as with all of KDs stuff, I got them a day and a half after the order!! I recommend the rubber ones for practicing on hard surfaces, cotton soles for mats or pads. I cant say enough about them!! They run wide so round down if you are in the middle of two sizes. Just a great shoe even for lounging around or just wearing to class.

This is a very good shoe and its very light. It has much grip you can move a lot with it. The only think is it just smells bad at first, but it wear off.

Great shoes. Very comfy. But MAN do they smell

These are very lightweight and comfortable. The rubber still has the petroleum smell and it took a washing to make them smell better. The washing made them a little floppy, but they still are a great deal. That said, they are what they are.
I am buying 10 pair today, just so I am stocked up for the winter.

These are great kung fu shoes, perfect for tai chi too. Plus, with the rubber soles, they don't slip on the kitchen floor when you're sneaking some leftover lo mein! The ONLY downside is the weird smell the rubber soles have when you first buy the shoes--but it goes away very quickly. A great value.

ONE MORE THING before you buy.

I love the shoes and appretiate the service that karatedepot has provided.
Before you purchase you should take into mind your shoes size. If you generally wear size 10 1/2 and do not have skiny feet, then size 10 should go well with you. But should you be in between size 10 and 10 1/2 and have skiny feet you should go with karatedepot's size 9. If you doubt what you should wear, go smaller then.
With this said, enjoy your shoes. I enjoy mine.

    Very comfortable

These shoes are very comfortable. I wear them a lot around the house and obviously when I am training. The outside of the shoe (except the bottom) and the inside is made out of cotton. The bottom is made from a rubber-plastic material. Overall, these shoes are great.

These shoes fit great, plus they are very quiet if you move correctly. When i bought these shoes I thought they would be useless but i was very wrong. Very comfortable.

Very good quality. Excellent grip for the ground and very light. I give it three stars because they aren't the ''perfect fit.'' I ordered the appropriate size but, they still would not fit properly. Other than that, they should be excellent for practice.

The cool thing about them is that they actually fit my feet. I have fairly short and broad feet, and I wear a 10 and a half. So I figured I'd get a 10 since they are a stretchy material. The surface is flexible enough for you to be able to move pretty much unimpeded. It has a pretty good grip so you can use them on pretty much any surface. They're pretty quiet if you move right. Over all, a great martial arts shoe... however...
    My only complaints are
    1) that the entire shoe is made of roughly the same stretchy elastic-polyester material. This makes the heel act funny, because your foot doesn't settle all the way to the back of the rubber sole, it gets pushed forward by the elastic material.
    2) the opening for your foot is just small enough to be a pain to put on, and just big enough to slip when you move too much.
Both of these could really be because of the size of my feet, which is kind of akward. So aside from issues due to proportion (which is always an issue on factory footwear, or clothes of any kind), these are GREAT shoes.
For a fair comparison, I also bought the cotton soled shoes. The cotton soled shoes are actually a little less flexible, due to the thickness of the soles (which are layered cotton, so it's pretty much like walking on a laminate of fibers). The shoe itself is more or less the same, but the proportions are a little different. The shoe is longer and thinner, so people like me with hobbit feet end up having a big pointy empty spot at the end of the shoe. The soles are very slick, so they are dangerous on slippery surfaces like wood or tile.
All in all, I like the rubber soled ones better, but the cotton soled ones are also quite good. At the price, if they wear out (which they will after a month of solid practice) you just replace them at their nice cheap price. If you feel like you are going to be doing a lot of practicing you might stockpile them, as the shipping would be cheaper. But try them out first before you commit to them (2.95 shipping is a good chance to try things).
