I got the black kind. It breaks like about 2 pine boards for me, close enough to the 2.25 per the specs, my instructor broke it too and said about 1.5. The padded sides are good for the holder. The grooves for tie-down in a break box are a nice touch. It is light so it won't add much to the karate bag but this makes it too light for a speed break (board flying or held by one edge). It's made from soft plastic so the break has a bit soft feel not a sharp snap like wood or rebreakables from hard plastic.

These feel more like toys than the real thing. The bigger kind are sharpened and fly and stick better. Also they are 5x more expensive. You get what you pay for.
