These new hand protectors are the official hand guards of the Japanese Karate Federation, that meet or exceed all tournament standards. These hand protectors also have a unique design that actually conforms to the natural shape of your fist and allows for improved mobility and control, unlike more traditional foam dipped sparring gear. The Official JKF Hand Protectors also offer more thumb protection than is found on other sparring gear, making it better for contact and grappling intensive martial arts such as karate and judo.

Sizing

I'm an adult male with normal or slightly smaller than average hands. Would medium fit or do I need a large?

Also, how are they for open hand use such as palm strikes, blocking, grabbing, etc? Permalink

Yes, adult medium would probably fit you comfortably.

They are ok for grabbing, palm strike, etc. Not quite as effective as MMA style grappling gloves, but still good.
