Are any of these closed gloves

No these sets all feature open gloves. IF you want closed ones you'd have to grab them separately (there are plenty to browse, but something like this would be good: bx-gl-90.

Michelle - you'll need to take some measurements. To learn exactly how to do this, check out our guide videos: http://www.karatedepot.com/martial-arts-equipment-videos.html.

Headgear

I measured my daughters head, ordered a small it ended up being too small so I reordered in a medium and it still did not fit! I paid $2.95 to have the whole sparring package ship to me but when I go to ship just the heargear back it costs $8 and I have to pay for Karate Depot to ship me the new size on top of it. Now I am out $27.99 for the head gear plus the $8 to return and how much for the new one that doesn't even fit to be shipped back to me? Will not purchase from here again! I have never had a company charge you to exchange an item!

A child xs would fit, but perhaps just a regular child small if you want a little room for growth.

I would recommend a size 7-7.5 when converting a size 9 from womens into mens.

THE right Gear!

We received it 4 days early, It looked great, fit great and worked great (in limited use). It doesn't show in the picture but the punches have a second layer of padding on the inside right in the area the seems likely to need it most. We are very satisfied! Thanks Karatedepot.com

Great Sparring Gear!

I decided to get my gear here, instead of through my school, where it's way more expensive. The Lightning gear fits great, is well padded, comfortable, looks great, and is very durable.

Yes, a size 2 shoe would get a size 1-2 kick. At his age and considering that he's growing, consider a 3-4.

Both of those would be fine choices for her. The dipped foam is light and comfortable after a few wears, and also relatively easy to put on. As for differences between the two - that's mostly just a matter of taste and figuring out which fits a little better for you.

I just got done fighting with the gear about one hour ago and I have to say i like it. The hands form to you and they feel great. The kickers could have more protection by the toes.

Great

This set is just awesome! The sets that most places and dojos sell are way too expensive. I found these, noticed the price, and bought them. I was really surprised with the quality! I have had them for about 2 years now and I have only 1 tiny rip. These are great and last forever.

Adult Female Perspective

Great equipment. I take karate with my 9 year old son in a multi-aged and level class. Lots of guys in the class tend to get rough. I am really tiny, but I feel that I am well protected with this (they have not broke anything yet haha.) I highly recommend this set!

Great Gear

I ordered this set because of the price. The gear is clean and everyone seems to respond to the color of the blue set. I am happy with this set and will buy again, it is light and very flexible and seems to be just what my son needed for his sparring.

Great value, great service!

A great quality equipment for a comparable price! The order was placed during the busiest time of the Christmas season and was received in plenty of time to be wrapped and placed under the tree for a Christmas surprise. I recommended it to two other friends who ordered and received the same prompt service. Thanks, Santa!!

Excellent Product

I bought this product unsure on how well it would hold up. But it has far exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend.

Great Product

I love this set. My only problem is with the hand pads. I believe they should cover more of the forearm

A Mom's View

I looked around to see what others were using when my son was about to start sparring. I saw the Lightning Gear and set out to find it. I found it here at a great price. Customer Service was great--they corrected my order before it got sent out when I made a mistake on the color ordered. Now that it is here, we're very happy with the gear! (Mom could do without sparring.)

Good product for a great price

This set is a very good value for the price. Bought individually, the total would be close to $100. Lightning products are very good quality, are easy to clean, and are true to size (in terms of what is published in the sizing charts).

Great price

A lot of people at my dojo wear lightning, that's why I bought it. It's works well and easy to clean.
The price at karate depot made me purchase here.

I'm not happy with this company or how they run it at all. I ordered this sparring set and the shoes are impossible to put on. They don't show you how they are made to give you an idea. My son's foot wouldn't fit in the opening and had we forced it the shoes would have torn. Not only that but I had to re-register my account as they had lost all my information. Yet continued to send me emails on what they wanted to push people to buy.

Sorry to hear you had a negative experience Misty! The re-registering must have been an anomaly in the system. As for the shoe size, please consult the sizing charts below this comments section - they may be able to help you in the future finding a good size shoe.

I oredered the sparring set for my daughter and we had the same problem with the shoes. She was able after A LOT of wiggling to get her very narrow foot through the opening but it takes forever! When she did get them on she had plenty of room for them to cover her foot it was just getting her foot into them that was irritating.
