Very satisfied

Bought this product for my son. It has been a few months now and they have held up great so far. They were shipped very fast and were less expensive than others found on the net. Will buy another pair when he outgrows theses.

Since you are overseas and probably don't want to mess around with returns and such, I'd recommend taking the safer route and getting the large.

The instep padding can be a little awkward when wearing shoes, but you could probably get it done.

I had a problem with having shinguards fitting around my calves in the past. I'm 5'6" and about 180 lbs, and, by my best measurement, my calves are about 20". Will a regular size work for me, or do I need to go bigger?

Although I think a regular would work, you might be more comfortable in the large. I'd go large, and then just arrange an exchange with us if it doesn't feel right!

These do leave some of the top of the foot open, but overall the protection is very good.

Yes these should protect your shin and instep from the impact experienced in muay thai training.

Shin guards-foot guards?

These pads are great for protecting the shins, they are still new for me , but they have a snug fit and don't move around during sparring. I miss protection on the top of the feet and toes, though, so I have to layer extra foot padding on top of them.

The best approach is wiping them down after use and letting them air dry. Make sure you don't store them immediately in a non-breathable bag or locker.

I think they are pretty good, especially for the protection they provide at the considerable price difference from the major label competitors.

I only use these pads in class twice a week for sparing. They lasted about six weeks before the neoprene wrap started to rip away from the pad! Not the performance I was expecting. They fit well and didn't slip around, but they also didn't last!

Perfect Fit

My husband bought a pair for himself. At first look, I thought they were going to be hot and slide around, but he LOVES them! He recently wore them to a Muay Thai clinic and he put them to the test, and he says they are the BEST shin guards he's EVER worn!! They fit snug, but not uncomfortably so. They do NOT slide around and they provide excellent protection.

Have these slipped around on you or anything. I'm considering these or the combat gear guards. Just wanted to know what you think about your top contender shin guards. I've used some of the shinguards at our studio and they are so heavy- how light are your top contenders. thanks

"Top Contender" is a division of "Combat Sports Intl." They are very similar as they share the same construction with only small differences. This particular style are very light and stay in place relatively well. I, personally prefer the "pro-style" shin pads with a raised shin ridge and an open back, but that's just a personal preference. These will suit you just fine, however I'd use a heavy tape to wrap the base of the shin to prevent twisting, as with any wrap style shin.

They are great!!! When u get hit or kicked u can't feel hardly anything! But one word of advice don't pull on the Neoprene or the material or at the sem of where the shinguards are sewn together. If u do they will rip!! There is another way of putting them one! I push from the bottom after i have put it on my feet then push it up as high as u can then u pull from the leather shinguard holding it from or pulling it from the inside! i use them for sparring & they are awesome!!!

This is for a pair. For most women and men who are in the 5 foot range the regular size is fine. For the 6 foot type of guys the large would definitely be good.
