As with the other reviews for this product, it works perfectly and was a snap to assemble. I'm recommending it to all of my friends.

expanding?

Will this product still function as well and hold up to 300# in a 36" door frame when extenders are used?

ITs exactly what I was hoping for, but I do wish the extra extension came with it. I noticed others are on TV offering the same thing with the attachments for only 29.99 now!
I should have waited..lol.

But I get great use out of it with my P90X workout!

I love the Door Gym. It takes minutes to assemble and it is everything it claims to be. You can attach it to your doorframe in 1 second, it is very sturdy, and is well made. I weigh 180 lbs and it supports me perfectly. I was also impressed with Karate Depot's shipping. I paid $3 for shipping and the Door Gym was in my home 3 days later.

I recently ordered a DoorGym from KarateDepot. It arrived missing a single carriage bolt which was vital to holding the DoorGym together. So I emailed KarateDepot about the missing piece. Their customer support staff were EXTREMELY helpful and friendly, and quickly sent me a new bag of DoorGym screw and bolts to get it up and working. If you're looking to order a DoorGym, I HIGHLY recommend getting it from this place. Aside from the low price, the customer help was great, with no fuss or delay.

The door gym is great. It fits well in my door, doesn't do any damage to the door frame, and feels good for doing pull ups on. It just works so well that after the second day you don't even think about it, you just start to accept that every time you go in your room or see a commercial break you are going to be doing 5 pull ups. I am definitely interested in getting the grip extender if I get sick of the grip options already available. That would the only downside I can think of, there are no pads for doing wide grip pull ups, just the two pads in the middle.

I was definitely pleased with ordering from Karate Depot. The 2.95 shipping said it expected to take ~10 days, but then it showed up in NYC after only 2 days.

This chin up bar is fantastic. It installs very easily without the need for drilling any holes. It is very sturdy (I weigh about 195). It also doesn't leave any marks on the door. If you're looking for a chin up bar, look no further.

I just got mine in the mail, and I am astounded. While it's cantilevered design seems to hold up my weight well, I live in a crappy apartment, and I find myself always leaving a foot hovering on the ground to catch myself if the door trim breaks. Maybe I will get less fearful with more use. The product itself is well built, but I feel like I was sent a product that someone else returned. There were a couple minor scratches where it looked like someone had already assembled it then dissembled it. Still, the finish is nice and shiny and it does not look bad at all. If you're looking for a pull up bar, do not buy the ones you have to screw in to the doorway. This one has many more grip types, it doesn't mark your doorway, you can move it around when you need. I feel like the door gym will stand up to decades of use. It seems I can always keep the door gym on hand, moving from apartment to apartment. No need to screw it in. Also, I am 6'3 and I find that I can do full-stretch pull-ups starting with my knees on the ground.

First of all, shipping from Karate Depot is always the best! I paid $2.95 S/H and was scheduled to arrive in 10 days, nope, arrived in just 4 days! After receiving and opening the package, assembly took a total on 1 minute. The Door Gym in very sturdy and reliable, not to mention comfortable, easy to use. Since I weight 225lbs. and live in an apartment that is about 50-60yrs old, I was worried it would rip the lip off the door jam. I have had it for 4 days using it 3x a day and not a scratch. Needless to say I am very satisfied with the Door Gym and Karate Depot!

I was looking for a chin up bar that doesn't require difficult assembly and won't destroy the door trim and this one is an excellent equipment. I'm not a heavy person but I was doubtful that it could actually bear my weight considering it doesn't involve bolting the piece on the wall or trim. When I realized the genius physics behind it, my doubts are gone. The upper bar pushes the weight forward thus being supported on the upper wall of the door (and not the trim) and the lower bar is pushing the trim, therefore the forward force is negated, as long as you're not rocking the equipment and both your walls and trim is in good condition, then this equipment will work for you. So far, I'm having a good workout and I could feel it in my arms, chest and back. Thank you.

I can't add much to the length reviews already posted. However, I will say that this product is high quality and perfect for staying in shape no matter how busy you are. I'm a former U.S. Marine and I've stayed in great shape with the basics-pull-ups, pushups, sit-ups, etc. You can get or stay in great shape by doing the basics, and with the door gym you can have a great daily workout in about 10 minutes. Two thumbs up.

Excellent portable exercise equipment

Door gym is a high quality, portable, excellent, all around exercise equipment for the upper body and abs. It's fairly easy to assemble, and feels rock solid when properly installed on the top of your doorway. The padding is generous and top quality to protect the finish on your doorway. If you don't ''rough house'' on the device, i.e., swinging like on the monkey bars, you will NOT even scratch your door frame. The Door gym is great for chin up variations (narrow vs. wide grip; palms in, out or facing each other), push ups (can go deeper with descent), and hanging crunches for ''iron abs''. I have only two minor criticisms on the product. It would have been better if they had added additional padding to the wide grip areas of the bar. The narrow grip areas of the bar is well padded. Lastly, the assembly instructions could be better detailed. The Door Gym comes with 2 longer and 2 shorter screws. The shorter screws attach the ''J'' bar to the red foam padded bar that hangs over the door. Initially, the shorter screws will appear to be too short for this job. The trick is to assure that ONE of the screws are pushed in maximally, then TIGHTEN with the nut over the washer. This will then allow enough space to tighten the nut over the washer on the opposite side. Bottom-line: the screws are the correct length, and you just need to patiently work at it:). Finally, Karate Depot had the best TOTAL price, the Door Gym was well packaged, and delivery was prompt. This product will help you achieve your martial arts goal...Be ''water'', my friends.

This is a real deal. No hassle, really works!!

After several days of exhaustive research on pull-up bars, I finally decided on the Door Gym. It has been a pleasant surprise so far!! First of all, KarateDepot ships really fast. I ordered mine using the 2.95 shipping, and it arrived on the next day, only I wasn't home (didn't expect it so soon) to sign the package, so I got this a few days later actually. Anyhow, it was easy to set it up initially. The package comes with 4 screws and 4 bolts with a tool to tighten the bolts. The manual kinda sucks but it doesn't take a genius to figure this out. After assembly, which takes like 5 minutes, I tried this on my door. It fits perfectly. Just make sure that you measure your door frame's dimensions.. most doors will work. I live in an apartment more than 50 years old, and it still worked. Anyhow, I was a little worried about hanging on the bar, but I tried and it felt really really sturdy. You can do various grips to hit different parts of upper body and the pads on the grips are top notch as well. I used to have a regular pull-up bar which tear down the frame of the wall eventually with the nails coming out... yeah, it was only 1/3 of the cost of the door gym, but in the long run, you can't really beat this deal. Oh, did I mention that you can do push ups with the bar as well? I haven't tried doing situps but should work as well. Don't waste any more precious time, this product rocks!! Also, I searched various places ebay etc, but this website offers the best deal as well as fast shipping so no need to hesitate there. There is a similar product from Everlast, which is cheaper, but some reviewers complained that it's not supplied with right screws and stuff.. so don't bother with that either. Good luck with your purchase!

Door gym is excellent

At first I was a little skeptical but the door gym really works. It doesn't damage the door and is easy to store away. I have been using it for 3 weeks and starting to see some results. Cost a little more than a regular chin up bar, but you don't have to ruin the doors with the door gym.
