This product is close to amazing. It actually works exactly the way they say it will. I was not sure how this product would hold me up without being mounted on the door frame, but it does. Don't get me wrong you can't swing on it like monkey bars, but it works to an amazing potential for chin up and any other exercise listed on the instructions. I rated this product a (4) because it could be improved, but if that was the case it would not be as affordable. I think this is a great product at an exceptional price. Again, I'm not into giving reviews, but I wanted to let others know about this product from a real person's point of view. Jason - Miami, FL

I was dissapointed in this product. It actually fell off the doorway with me on it. I lost confidence in the product and I got static when I tried to return the bar.

I ordered this chinning bar several weeks ago from Karate Depot. The item first showed as being on back order...after I had paid...I figured I was in for a long wait. Wrong! The back order took 0 time, and I had my bar w/in 5 days of ordering! Very nice! The unit itself is very easy to assemble, and took all of 5 minutes. It works superbly as a push-up bar...I like using it WAY better than my push-up handle things. I weigh ~240 lbs., so I was nervous about chinning...but it works just fine. Other reviews indicated that the no-slip strip leaves a black mark above your door...mine is up against a red paint, and I have not noticed any such effect so far. This is such a simple item, so there isn't much that could be wrong with it...that being said, it works exactly as it is supposed to...unless you weigh 300 lbs, I highly doubt you will have any issues with this bar what-so-ever. Combine that with good price, low/prompt shipping from Karate Depot, and you get yourself an easy as pie 5 stars! People who rate it less do so simply because they dislike doing chin-ups, not because the bar didn't work perfectly!!!

I love this thing, aside from it's obvious uses... I use it to hang my heavy bag and it works great. You can't get all of the angles, or height that you truly need... but if you're in a pinch. Most heavy bags don't weigh more than people, I think the rating on this type of bar is 300lbs…

I started looking for this sort of equipment last year as one of the many odds and ends I put on my Xmas wish list. Like a lot of guys, I realize that the infamous wish list is really my personal shopping list for the coming year as almost nothing on it is going to wind up under the tree, so I approached it in that light. Being a person with a home gym in a house I don't plan to keep forever, I am always on the lookout for equipment that I can use which doesn't require me to perform any permanent alterations to the place I live. We don't often see equipment that is both stable and able to take the abuse of a serious workout, but after one good back and biceps day, the Everlast Multifunction Chinning Bar seems to fit the bill nicely.
I ordered it from karatedepot.com, and online martial arts and fitness supplier that has good prices on the stuff I look for. Since the bar itself had a recognizable label, I took a closer look at it than I did several of the competitive products I've found around the net. It helped that all of the product reviews were very helpful in describing the use and users who purchased it. (I may add a review myself shortly as well.) The product itself was very easy to assemble, requiring just a 10mm and 11mm wrench. The construction is very solid, but with enough margin in the engineering that it doesn't require an extremely precise and snug fit to go together. If this was a vehicle I would probably gripe about this point, but the fact that it is a strong piece of fitness equipment that is designed to be assembled by amateurs, I think it's good as-is. Hanging it in the doorway is an easy, one-handed evolution that doesn't require much effort at all. The wooden piece fits snuggly against the wall and the long main bar rests on the very plush padded material against the user side of the doorway. The same plush pad covers all of the gripping surfaces and is very comfortable even after prolonged routines. As one of the reviews on the product site said, the abrasive strip on the wooden bar does contact above the door jam, but the only thing I have seen is a modest amount of abrasive material left on the paint that wipes off with a light swipe of the hand. The verdict: For about $35, this is a great investment so long as it gets used. For a normal workout like mine where I will only use this mayhap 2 days per week, I believe it will have paid for itself by the end of the month. Also, the shipping and service from the retailer were great. Product: Recommended Retailer: Recommended

Works better than I thought it could

Excellent product. Very strong, and the foam grips provide perfect gripping surface. Only thing that keeps it from getting 5 stars is that the wood strip has a rough adhesive on it (like sandpaper) to maintain grip above the door. It hasn't been a problem (no scratches) but I suppose you could cover it with cloth.

Works well if you have a strong enough doorframe

The good thing about this chinning bar is that it actually does not put pressure on the top of the doorframe, and can be removed and installed easily. This is good because it doesn't require screwing it into the doorframe or anything permanent. The only issue I have found is that because of the way it works, it puts pressure on the front of the doorframe and the wall above the doorframe on the other side of the doorframe. It sometimes leaves black marks, but other than that, this is a good product. I probably weigh around 200 lbs, and I don't really have any fear of this causing damage to my walls or doorframe.

    Great pull-up bar

This bar is very useful in a multitude of ways. I like the fact that you can do about 5 different kinds of pull ups using the bar, and probably more if you got creative. In addition, you can use it to do a few different types of pushups. Your pushups can be deeper as a result of the bar being a little bit off the ground. One other thing that I like about the pushups is that if your wrists are bothering you, since you are grasping the bar itself and not bending your wrists on the ground, there is no discomfort. Made of high quality material and it works like a charm.
