This three section mat from Harbinger is made with special tri-density foam padding that provides maximum support and comfort. The custom fitted PVC shell maintains its shape and form even after being repeatedly folded and unfolded. The three-section system provides easy transportation and storage and allows for maximum floor coverage while taking up a fraction of that space when not in use. The mat also features integrated nylon handles so it can be easily moved when folded up.

Tapered Hardwood Bo
A. Hey Jimmy - tapered bos are generally considered better for spinning. The taper makes the ends light and places the center of gravity more dominantly in the middle. Non-tapered bos are considered better for application and bunkai (meaning they can take better beatings because they are thicker). Of course, that is also relevant to wood type. If you want something specific for competitions, taper might be the way to go. If you intend to pursue bunkai and kobudo kumite, go with non-taper.

A. This comes in a pair (two)

Fighting Bo
A. Hey Money - this bo is designed for performance and practice. Ash is a light wood and the taper makes it even lighter. However, this bo will not stand up to repeated abuse through hard contact. You could use it for protection, but it is not ideal for that.

Hi Missyb - the thickness of this mat would definitely accommodate falls and rolls nicely. However,be advised that if you have a lot of forward momentum on your rolls you may find yourself rolling off the end of the mat. In general though this shoul be good for your purposes.

A. Hi. I think you'll find the sizing chart at the bottom of the page to be helpful. Your son is probably a size small, but you'll want to check his exact height and weight against the chart below. The ninja uniform sizes are also matched up to regular clothing sizes, which should also help you in deciding what to buy. Thanks!

Black Traditional Nunchaku
A. It actually depends on how big your forearms are - a nunchaku should be about the same length as the distance between the center of your palm and your elbow. The average nunchaku length is 12 inches. Good luck :)

It's 2 inches thick. It is considered a good mat and is also easy to carry. If you are very tall, you may be comfortable with a longer mat (like tr-ma-22) which comes in 24 x 72 (12 inches longer)... but this is one of the thickest mats you'll find, and the carrying convenience is very well-liked.
