Q. Hey Nik - the real trick here is noting what kind of wood both bos are made out of. This one is red oak and has a 1-1/4" diameter. If those traits are the same in the usa karate catalog, then you can trust the quality to be the same and you'll be good to go to order here. If the woods are different, then you'll have to choose which one you prefer.

Q. I think these shin guards work great for the money. They protect the leg against injury from kicking the elbow or someone else's shin. I like them much more then normal karate boots. To be sure there are better shin guards out there, but not for anywhere near the price.

Q. I have the middleweight uniform in Black and am very happy with it. This one though did not come out in the same high quality. I washed it once to get some of the stiffness out and both the top and bottom have started to bauble (when the threads or fabric start to raise in like tiny loose balls). Also the sizing chart convinced me to go a size lower than my gut instinct (its been a while since i bought one and I had thought maybe the sizes had changed). Its fine for practicing twice a week, just not upto the usual high standards one comes to expect. As a general word of advice from someone who usually trains with a black gi. Stay away from all sources of dirt or possible dirt :). The white gis get dirty and stain very easily.

Q. It feels and looks good. The KD logo is large on the belt, much than the image. If you have a KD gi, then the logo is the same size on the belt.

Q. A good patch, the stitching looks good, the stuff around the edges is ok. I need to look back at the product description to work out whether this is a sewn or iron on patch. Its been a while since I've done the whole patch thing. Its about two inches from either end and is itching to be added to my Gi.

Q. Even though I wouldn't get these belts for the instructor or Master level, for students though... these belts are PERFECT. For a student that will only (hopefully) wear it for a few months, It doesn't need to be the best quality, I ALWAYS get these for my students.

Q. Not only does the sword look good, but it is solid. I can't see anything happening to it through standard practice. I would not strike another weapon with it, due to its thin blade, but that isn't an issue since its a tai chi sword. It should never more than glance another weapon anyway. This is a graceful weapon, not a basher.

The tip has broken off of one knife, but I sharpened it with a file and it works perfectly. The case features a belt loop for easy access. Decent knives, as long as you don't wing them at a cement wall.
