not for competitive judo

bought 2 KD and one entry level mizuno all single weave for my daughter's high school judo season. After one week of practice using her KD's the coaches are recommending that she get a better gi. The KD is quite lightweight and will enable your opponents to grab and throw you easily. In retrospect, I would spend the extra $ and get the Mizuno if you can afford it. In a side by side comparison it is obvious that the Mizuno is superior in weight and construction, thus the extra cost.

Gi-Pant Size 4
Way to long. Useless for me

I have just one question. Does anyone who complains that the pants are to long know that they can be hemed. I have been in Judo for over 15 years and I am a large man, in fact I can count on my GI never fitting me. All I do is HEM the pants and jacket if need be and I get an average of 5 to 6 years out of them. Now that I am a high ranking Judoka I dont compete very much, but come on people use your heads. Just hem the pants and go to practice....

Great for its purpose

My son needed an actual uniform for a USJF tournament being held at his junior college. I ordered the Size 7 for him online, as he is quite tall but thin. When the suit came, it sort of looked as though he was swamped in it. But I washed it a couple times in hot water, and now it fits fine. I was right to look at the length of the item rather than the weight class. One of his friends who is the same height had purchased a Size 5, and he borrowed my son's jacket for a couple of the matches of the tournament. So, all in all, a good choise at a good price. Shipping was quick, too.

Good pick for Aikido

Jacket is much better than the proto-typical aikido alternative. Pants get the job done, but crotch cut is too low and not necesarily flattering. We'll see how the whole gi holds up over time.

Useful as Nighttime wear

I originally intended to use this gi for judo. After wearing it once, however, I decided it would be much more useful as a set of pajamas. Much too soft and comfortable to be used in judo. Though it is nice for those hot summer nights.

No bad, for the price...

Had mine for almost a year now, training Aikido an average of 2 times a week; Jacket is good, you can always replace the pants, but theses pants -- oh oh! embarassing, if you wear a colorful underwear, they're basically like pajamas... besides that it's OK.

very very soft

I got 2 of these, sadly... The gi is very soft and extremely thin. The top has the texture of a bathrobe or a beach towel; the pants closely resemble sateen pajamas. The pants are so thin, they're actually translucent!
This gi is amusingly bad.

...It's alright

I bought this because most other Judo uniforms were around $50ish or so. So, this being around $30, I thought I would get a good deal. I guess I got what I paid for. I got this for Aikido mainly since my old uniform was too lightweight.

The jacket is sturdy, made with pretty good material.
Pants on the other hand, are terrible. The cotton fabric is thin to the point of being see through and the 'padding' on the knees is laughable.
This is getting a bad review since the pants are such a bad quality.

Bottomline:

Nice jacket
Bad pants - TERRIBLE.

-You get what you pay for. If you're a judo practitioner, it's easy to get your hands around the fabric so you would get thrown pretty easily.
-If you can afford it, spend a bit more to get something of better quality.

I have to agree, pants are really bad. Jacket is solid. I guess is still a good deal for the money, counting pants as extra only ;)

Good, but not for round people

I've worn one of these gi for a year of jujitsu practice, and the jacket held up pretty well to throwing and grappling with minimal wear. The pants are very thin and not particularly easy to stretch in, but not terrible; They work.

However, the cut of the gi is not particularly generous, and, when one goes up a size, the length increases a lot but the diameter not so much. As such, if one, like I, happens to be pretty burly and have a large gut, expect to be showing it off to the class.

Agree as well. Jacket is getting smaller with washings overtime, thus chest opening is getting bigger ;)

For anyone 6' and above you are looking at a size #6, which I think would constitute XL. For a bit more info check the sizing chart at the bottom of the page.

See through pants

I previously purchase the 'Single Weave Judo Uniform' through karatedepot in neutral (not white) and was amazed that the pants weren't see through. I thought this one would be the same; however, you can see right through the pants. It may be because this is the white & not natural dye. I returned mine & am getting another 'Single Weave Judo Uniform' instead. Cheaper and I'm not as self conscious about everyone seeing my underware.

cibolover I have 2 words for you. GYM SHORTS. Does your sensei not tell you to wear gym shorts under your pants? At my dojo we encourage ALL Judoka boys, girls, men and women to wear gym shorts under their pants so when they get pulled down or fall down no one sees their tidy whities. You can return them but take a dollars worth of free advise get a pair of gym shorts and no one will see your underware.

Nice durable gi. I'm 6'3" around 250lb and got the size 7 which was a little on the big side but after a couple washes fits great. The pants are very lightweight. All in all a great uniform for the price and shipping was quick.

I am impresed with the quality and delivery time for the price. I am 6'0-190 and purchased a size 5. it shrank after first wash and fits perfect. I practice gracie jiu-jitsu and highly recomend this gi for training during summer months. the lapels are not as thick as most but serve there purpose quite well.

I ordered the Student Judo Uniform by KD Elite for a student of mine. I am very impressed with the quality of the uniform and the price in which it was offered. I would recommend this Gi to anyone looking for a well made and comfortable uniform to workout and train in. Great Job.

Student Gi

It is a reasonable price and lighter-weight material. I'm using this as my ''summer'' weight Gi. I'm 6'1/250lb and size 7 works well after shrinkage. The trouser twill material is not as nice as Mizuno, but for the price, I can't complain.

Overall, I recommend this product

Good "Everyday" Gi

An excellent gi for the price. I teach at the local community college and informally on the side and have been a Judoka for 17 years. While I don't compete anymore, I do work out 3-5 times/week with my students and/or my Sensei. My students often order this gi at my recommendation, understanding that they may want or need to spend a little more when they are good enough to compete. For everyday use, it is hard to find a better value for the money.
