Does this have any velcro? Also do the arm gauntlets have a loop for your finger?

The arm gauntlets do indeed have a finger loop.

I do not believe any of the pieces in this set contain velcro. If you get tabi boots separately, they will have velcro.

The Ninja Uniform is super comfy and it actually looks really good when you wear it, unlike the other places, the uniforms are cheap materials that can break easily and just does not look like a real ninja. I bought 2, one for me and one for my fiancee and we love it.

No, there is no significant difference. The ninja uniforms we sell on our site are more uniform-like that costume like, even though we do use the word costume from time to time.

Sizing

We were very happy with how everything worked out. The material is a heavier cotton (like a uniform is supposed to be made out of) and it looked great -- the material isn't the thin stuff that all those halloween costumes are made out of. As far as sizing goes though, my son is 5'6" (66 inches or 168 cm) and weighs 90lbs (or 40kg) and the small was more than tall enough and fit him fine.

Great Shinobi Shozoku

Let me start by saying I was tought this mystical art at an early age by my Shidoshi who came from Japan. He tought me the ways of the ninja for about 8 years. He stood 4 foot 5inches about 98 lbs and was able to put a man the size of a mountin on his back as fast as he could blink. He tought me many things about the art including the Shinobi Shozoku. The traditional black uniform of the Ninja. Just like the traditional Shinobi Shozoku's of ancient Japan Karate Depot is very close to original. The only thing that the uniform lacks is a Tunic. A fabric that goes over the jacket and gets tied with a traditional belt. I personally like them but they have no value on a Ninja. I would suggest that if you are learning this art to use a thick Karate or Judo GI cause having ordered this Shinobi Shozoku from KD and using it to teach my kids I found that the GI doesnt last to long. Its a great starter shozoku and for practicing your hiding abality. Over all this Ninja is pleased with it and I do reccomend this Shinobi Shozoku to any one who wants to look like a ninja.

What's My Ninja Uniform Size?

Greetings Fellow Ninja Warriors!

What ninja uniform size would be best for me? I have reviewed the size chart on the website, but I’m not really sure. You could say I’m an “odd size;” somewhere in the middle in a manner of speaking.

I’m 5’10”, weighing in at 223lb (an average build; not overweight) with a 36in. waist line. Pants: I’m a 36/30. Regular Shirt: X Large. T-Shirt: XX Large. As a form of comparison, when it comes with military/police clothing & sizing, I’m a large regular. If that helps you.

I’m assuming the uniforms are made out of 100% cotton; so some shrinkage will be expected. Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

In my opinion you would fit into a large, but would probably be more comfortable in an XL. If you want something that is form fitting, go large.

The tabi are only found in adult sizes, but they do get pretty small. I recommend finding the child's foot size in inches or centimeters, then compare that number to this chart in order to find the equivalent adult male shoe size: http://www.i18nguy.com/l10n/shoes.html.

Cheap!!!!

Just received this a couple weeks ago. Very cheaply put together. The strings for your middle finger on arm covers fell apart the very 1st time I put it on. The wrap around for the head mask frayed out and is no longer in use and since there is only one string makes it difficult to use it efficiently. Tabi boots are too big around the calves and are put together with velcro instead of authentic ones with the clips. Should have done more research before purchasing on the company and feedback. It is ok if you are a looking for a halloween costume but not much more than that. MR. Matheny

A medium would be ideal weight-wise, while a large would be best height-wise. There is some flexibility on the length as the arm and leg coverings accommodate shortened sleeves and pant legs.

If I were in your boots, I'd go medium.

Sizing

I'm 5'6" and approximately 120 lb. What would be the recommended size? I'm mostly worried about pants, as I prefer it a little baggy...or rather, to have it a bit longer than my legs so that when it's tied off it'll be loose and comfy in a way baggy sweatpants might be (I don't like the usual slimming/tapering look of some ninja pants). For my purposes, I won't be using the tabi, so that might also have to be taken into consideration.

Good For Hapkido Too!

I bought one of these 100% 9oz cotton black Ninja uniforms (Asian World store brand I believe) for almost nothing about ten yrs ago when a local martial arts store had a going out of bus. sale. Now I'm assuming that this is the same gi so here is what I did...

I took a razor blade and cut off the gauntlets and leg ties and I gave the hood away. Mr. Shin even asked me where I purchased my nice new Hapkido uniform when he had me in a VERY painful lock as I didn't buy if from him? Little did he know that I purchased my new uniform for the price of 2 movie tickets;-)

This inexpensive uniform held up fine for 3 yrs of rough BB Hapkido training. I don't want you thinking that I'm a disloyal student so just for the record I did purchase a HVY weight Sang Sa black Hapkido uniform from Mr. Shin several months later after my wrist was out of the cast!

October 2010

October 2010
My son loves martial arts, and this costume did mostly well for him. He is a bit larger around, but when I ordered I based the specifications of what the costume claimed to fit for height and weight. My son fit in those parameters perfectly, but did not fit into the uniform perfectly. We had to make quite a few alterations, and they came undone progressively through the time he wore it.

Pit Crew Ninjas!

A group of mysterious marching band parents decided to fulfill their destiny and become ninjas to assist the Marching Hurricanes in their quest to bring their 2010 show "Shadows" to the masses at the Tournament of the Bands Championships. After some initial confusion assembling the ninja uniforms ("No, no, the hood goes on first!"), these ninjas were totally awesome!

Hey Nin. The cheapest option ($2.95) will probably take 5-7 business days barring any unforeseen circumstances on the part of the shipping company (fedex probably). The more expensive options will take less time.

Great feel!

Surprisingly, with all the different parts to this uniform, it is very fluid in movement. Plus, it's very comfortable and adjustable.
The only thing I don't like is that I was told to order a size larger but as it turns out, that was a mistake and now I'll have to take it in a bit...no biggie at all!
The hood part fits great, as well.

Size Question

Im tall and skinny.... i'm about 6'2 but i'm only like a 160 pounds, so i dont know if an X-Large is going to be to flappy and big... I definitely don't want it to be to short though at the same time.. What size should i get?

Yea I see what you mean Penguinnator. I think you might have to split the difference and go with an XL. This should be the best compromise between long enough while not feeling like a sailboat.

Amazing Quality

I was shocked! I would have expected this uniform for be closer to $100. My son is obsessed with ninjas and loves the uniform. He's in TKD, so we are used to buying expensive uniforms, this is every bit as nice as his expensive TKD uniforms! Blown away by the quality, price, delivery and service! Will buy again from Karate Depot!

Sizing

I'm about 5"11, 6 feet tall at most, but very unsure as to the sizing.
Yes, I already looked at the size chart. The main reason I'm worried about sizing is the fact that I'm a very slim build. Long and slightly lanky. I only weigh about 140, I'm 18. Any idea what size I should pick? =/

You want to have some bagginess in the pants as that would keep them comfortable and flexible, however if they start to resemble parachute pants you know you've gone too far.

Hi. I think you'll find the sizing chart at the bottom of the page to be helpful. Your son is probably a size small, but you'll want to check his exact height and weight against the chart below. The ninja uniform sizes are also matched up to regular clothing sizes, which should also help you in deciding what to buy. Thanks!

If he is about 6 foot tall, I recommend the extra large. If he is 6' 5" or taller you will have to go with the XXL. For further considerations, consult the sizing chart at the bottom of this page.

This uniform is strong in terms of practicing, but get different pants. These pants are hard to tie on, even if you read the instructions. So all I'm saying is it's a great product, except for the pants.

My brother and I purchased each a uniform. I use it for practicing and training in Taijutsu and Ninjutsu.
It is almost right on with correctness for traditional clothing for Japan and in period!
The Pants can be a tough to put on, but with some practice they go on like regular pants.
The face mask, if you sew the edges at the corners, you can bring the bottom piece up to make the eye slot smaller and fit your face better. The Arm gauntlets, the elastic can cut your circulation off, but keep the arm gauntlets down on your arm and that should solve the problem.
I ripped off the KD tags, I mean...a ninja running away with a 4 inch white square on a black uniform saying KD?

A good buy.

I am training ninpo taijutsu and the only thing wrong with the costume is that the jacket doesn't have a sash, just buy it separately its like 4.00, and like everyone says, I strongly recommend long tabi boots, I'm also a free runner and I wear this uniform for it, and its really comfortable.

I bought this costume for a party, and was very excited to receive it, but my enthusiasm quickly faded when I tried it on. I bought the XXL as I'm ~260lbs, but the jacket was very small. I also couldn't get the ties for the waist of the pants to meet up to tie them properly. The arm guards had barely enough elastic to fit around my wrist and mask was huge. I was able to modify it to work, and took the advice of another reviewer and bought the proper size regular jacket to go along with it. I also ended up cutting out the elastic on the arm guards and using shoe laces to hold them up. As for the mask, I used safety pins to hem the seam, but as a longer term fix, I might cut apart and re-sew it with better shaping. All in all, it might work better if you are a skinny ninja, but the accessories should be one-size-fits-all, but are one-size-fits-none.

Bad instructions. Needs some adjustments. The forearm guards have an elastic band at the elbow that cuts of circulation, and a loop that cuts of circulation of your middle finger. The under mask is loose on me and I will probably replace it with a black Under Amour mask.

The uniform is comfortable and easy to put on. The material it is made out of is great. The finger for the gauntlet piece kind of hurts or cuts off circulation but after awhile you'll find a position where it will be comfortable. The mask piece was a bit confusing at first. They should've provided a more thorough instruction (the inner head piece has a large hole for the eyes, large enough to fit your head through it. maybe it is used to cover the nose and mouth only? and the hood covers the top portion of your head? anywho..the length above that hole is long, as if you can fit two or three heads in it :S)

It's Decent.

The uniform I ordered fit great but the Gi, or jacket looks a little weird. It seems a little short. The overall length of the jacket is fine, but there is a part that should go down further rather than stopping around the bell button area. The pants are great, no problems there. Although I am extremely displeased with the hood and mask. More the mask... I ordered an XXL, ( i'm 6'4, nearly 200 lbs) and this mask is better suited to fit over a basketball... Nobody's head could possibly be as big as this stretchy elastic like mask is. the fact that it stretches so nicely/easily makes me wonder why they would make it bigger than the average head, rather than smaller. I'm actually unable to wear it at all. Rather than a ninja mask, it fits like an executioners mask. Very baggy, the eye hole is HUGE. Well, the bottom line is that this mask would only fit a giant. Or someone with an abnormal, basketball sized head (I am not exaggerating). And the hood comes down over my eyes if I try to secure it correctly to my head. and securing it correctly is still a mystery to me, I think your supposed to tie it around your neck?? I've come up with my own mask to replace this enormous one, and it looks much cooler. The instructions to put this outfit on are very poor. Looks like they were made by/for a first grader, no joke. Doesn't help very much. basically tells you what could figure out on your own, leaves confusing parts for you to figure out on your own...I'm a little disappointed with the jacket, it could look and fit better. I plan on using some velcro strips to secure it better. I was satisfied with the fabric it's made of. The pants were great, like I said. gauntlets for arm are cool as well. overall the outfit is ''okay''. The hood and mask I received are literally unusable, but everything else you can work with. With a little customization, this can be an awesome outfit/uniform/costume. But don't expect too much right outta the box

I found a Solution to the jacket!

Ok, you can buy the whole uniform, get mad while trying to put it on, and throw it into the corner and not wear it again for 6 months...OR, you can buy the boots, socks, and hood the buy a brushed cotton tradional uniform, the jacket in that uniform is not ninja, but much better than this jacket, it wraps all the way around your torso, and has ties on the inside so it wont open, you can also get a sleeveless version of the jacket for a cooler look. The pants in this uniform are nice but if you step on one of the ties before you tie it, it will most likely rip of, but very easy to sew back on.

I took a risk and I won

I wasn't sure I wanted to buy the uniform because the sizing chart was not specific for me. I'm 6', 145lbs and I wasn't sure if I wanted the large which met my weight needs, or the XL which met my length needs. After much comparison with my Aikido gi and just fuzzy logic I decided to go with the large...bull's-eye! I got it, and it fits perfectly. I will now review each part of the uniform
Jacket: Fits really well and looks really cool. the sleeves are a little short but it's meant to be that way so they won't get in the way of your movement. The gauntlets cover whatever the sleeves are too short to. I like the shuriken pocket.
Gauntlets: A little modernized with the elastic, but they are still cool. The finger loop is a little tight, the velcro on the wrist is a little loose, and the upper elastic is tight as well. I'll probably cut them and use normal string/cord to make everything fit better.
Pants: Very comfortable and cool once you get them on and tied. The instructions are a little vague but whatever works for you is fine. I like the knee and ankle ties.
Hood and Mask: This is where the uniform loses a star. The mask is a little loose, but breathable which I like. The hood is a mess...It might be that I need a technique to wear it, but the tie is confusing and it shifts around obstructing your vision. The instructions didn't help
All in all this is a recommended buy. You just have to figure out how to put it all on right. I don't, however recommend wearing this during the day in 90 degree sunshine like I did. This is strictly a cold day or night time outfit. Also be sure to wear an undershirt (black) with it, cause the open jacket exposes skin. You might also want to wear another belt over the jacket just to get a better fit.

Great!

A friend of mine got me the ninja uniform for my birthday. I have to say it is absolutely amazing. It is very comfortable, and authentic compared to other variations. I can only find one thing that I didn't like much, the finger-holds on the arm guards are a little small, one actually cuts off circulation. He-he.
Over all, this was an amazing buy on my friends part, and one of the most interesting, useful, and quality gifts I've ever received! Studying ninjitsu is even more fun, now that I have the uniform!

very nice

This is very comfortable and light, perfect for meditating and doing ninja. I'm a little disappointed with mine because the trouser ties make it impossible for high kicks and the right arm guard came with no velcro! Oh well! I can just cut the ties short and tie them loose and get my mom to sew the velcro on. Other than that, it's very unique and much like the uniforms used in feudal Japan!

Cool, but confusing

This is a really cool uniform. It really needs the tabi boots to go with it, but even by itself it's cool. The only problem is, it's impossible to put on. I have had it for a month and can't figure out how to put it on. It's so weird and confusing, but very cool!

Super quality

Back a few years ago some of my best friends got me a ninja uniform much like the one sold here. I just wanted to say that I have never had so many compliments on something. This suit is far more genuine seeming than most and people always ask where I got it. I am very pleased with this product and am about to buy another for a good friend of mine. It may be a little difficult to put on right away, seeing as the waist straps are a little confusing even with the directions. But, with practice it goes on fairly easy and is very light and easy to move in.

sucks

Do not get this, it is too hard to get on and will ruin your dreams of becomeing a ninja. The tabi always hurts your feet, and is impossible to get used to, the flaps are nearly impossible to keep together, and the only way you could get this on is if you had 8 arms. Do not get this.
