Product Description

This 7 oz. uniform is highly recommended for beginner students. Starting out in martial arts is not an easy task, so the last thing you need is to be uncomfortable while you're trying to absorb a wide array of techniques and principles. KD Elite certainly kept that in mind when engineering this lightweight kimono. The fabric is light enough that you can move freely and comfortably, able to fully concentrate on learning your discipline.

Your gi jacket is constructed from a lightweight and breathable cotton/polyester blend. Adding to its breathability are the two reinforced side vents, both of which feature adjustable tie cords. These tie cords are easily adjusted and secured to get you the perfect fit. The uniform's traditional cut offers ample mobility and an authentic feel/fit.

Your gi pants are made of the same cotton/polyester blend as the jacket, allowing them to breathe and remain nice and light. A triangular crotch panel helps keep the fit comfortable while learning various high kicks. This panel also prevents the pants from botching up when kicking, as well as keeping unnecessary stress off of the seams in the crotch area. For your convenience, the waistband is both elasticated and uses an adjustable drawstring. The elastic comfortably accommodates a wide range of waist sizes, while the added drawstring is perfect for cinching up the pants and making minor adjustments before training.

For the KD Elite brand, you can order a mix-and-match uniform set. Please use the first pull-down menu to select a jacket size and the second pull-down menu to select pant size.

This uniform will include a free white belt that matches your jacket size. E.g., if you order a size 2 jacket with size 3 pants, your uniform will include a size 2 white belt.

Hi Jason. I think the size 7 would work although you might not want to shrink it in the wash. If you prefer hot wash / spin dry perhaps bumping up to the 8 would be smart.

    size help

My son is 4'8", 103 pounds, 31-33 waist, looks like size 2. I'm 6'2", 160 pounds, ~32 waist, wear size 30 dress slacks. Should I get a size 6 top and size 4 pants or both size 6?

Hi scrapiron. I'm thinking maybe go with the size 5 for pants. The 6 for the top should be ok.

A size #3 would be form fitting and you would want to be careful not to shrink it in the wash. A #4 would be looser and could tolerate some wash shrinking.

Right now 000 is the perfect size. However, you could probably get away with going 00 in the expectation of some growth.

    Great Gear

I bought this uniform for my daughter to start back taking karate. This is not the first KD Elite uniform I have purchased. This is a great sturdy uniform! Material is not too heavy. Sizing is great!

    Awesome Fit

I am a Taekwondo Martial arties but I hate the feeling of a throw over Gi top and I needed something that was dark in color to work out at home in (indoor/outdoor) conditions. I came to Karatedepot and was looking through the uniforms saw this and ordered it. it was sent to my home in 3 days, when I pulled it out of the package I was very pleased with my product. stealth black color, great comfortable fit, tossed it into the dryer to soften it up and bam! Perfect. this uniform is professionaly made very high quality. and the open and close front flap design makes it more relaxing to wear than the pull over TKD tops.

What to Expect From a Student Gi

This video explores what exactly you'll get when you first put on a student gi. First time martial artists are often surprised by the weight, form, and function of a gi and how different it can be from regular western clothing.

Discussed are weight differences between 8 ounce (light weight) and 14 ounce (heavy weight), as well as pros and cons of both uniform types

I'm 5'10", about the same weight and I generally wear a size 5. That being said I like to have a cuff rolled up once or twice. If you want a more form fitting style go with the 4.

The uniform fits great, but it fades after only one washing. I washed it in cold water and that still didn't help with keeping the color nice and black. I plan on using some Rit dye to make it really black again. I would recommend sticking with white uniforms so you can at least bleach a stain out and you don't risk any fading.
    Thank you,
    P

In most traditional Japanese and Korean martial arts classes only higher belt ranks get an option to where a black uniform. Chinese Kung Fu uniforms are typically black.

    Pleasantly Surprised

This is the first item I have ordered from KD and it looks like it won't be the last!
The uniform is everything I could have hoped for. It seems very durable and should last a very long time.
Some observations (not complaints): it needs to line-dried (it shouldn't be tumble dried) and the legs did need to be hemmed - although I did expect this due to the large variation in the stated measurements.

    Great uniform for everyday training

This uniform is simply a great product for training.
plus it is surprisingly strong for being light weight it's made for throws, goshinjutsu escapes from holds, and pins will be buying more in the future...

    Thanks again
