Runs a little small

This uniform is great quality. My only complaint is that it seems a little small when compared to uniforms from other manufacturers. This may have just been bad comparisons in the size of children in my dojo. Note: this uniform has draw strings, not an elastic waist band. Permalink

strings on the gi jacket

i know the waste strings tie the inside and the outside flaps to hold in place. where to tie the strings at the top of the side splits? Permalink

Tapered Hardwood Bo
A. Hey Jimmy - tapered bos are generally considered better for spinning. The taper makes the ends light and places the center of gravity more dominantly in the middle. Non-tapered bos are considered better for application and bunkai (meaning they can take better beatings because they are thicker). Of course, that is also relevant to wood type. If you want something specific for competitions, taper might be the way to go. If you intend to pursue bunkai and kobudo kumite, go with non-taper.

Rubber Foam Tonfa
A. This comes in a pair (two)

Fighting Bo
A. Hey Money - this bo is designed for performance and practice. Ash is a light wood and the taper makes it even lighter. However, this bo will not stand up to repeated abuse through hard contact. You could use it for protection, but it is not ideal for that.

When tying a gi top, start out by taking the outermost string on the right flap and tying it to the inside string on the left flap. Then take the outermost string on the left flap and tie it to the split string on the right flap.

I agree with the previous reviewer regarding sizes - wish I would have taken their advice before ordering. My daughter is 4 feet tall and 50 pounds. I ordered her the 00 size which states it is for ages 10-12, 4'4" and 60 pounds. We will be lucky if this fits her for a couple of months. The pant length leaves no room for growth and she is 4 inches shorter than the recommended height. Quality for the price is great - nice cotton weight. Permalink

Purchased for my son, 7-yr old. Great price for all-cotton. I was expecting something mediocre for the price, I was pleasantly surprised. Highly recommended.

Buy this today!!

I bought this gi for my martial arts class, and it was nice. It is comfortable and easy to move around in. It is 100% cotton, so it's not terrible after you sweat in it. Permalink

Very good buy

I am pleased with this uniform, which I bought for tae kwon do for my daughter. It is a nice weight, soft, and 100% cotton at a great price! We couldn't find anything near this quality at this price locally. We would definitely purchase from karatedepot again. Permalink
