    My name is Alan McGowan, it have studied 8 differnet martial arts and currently practice 3. I teach a small non-profit self defense class. and have found KD.com to be very helpful with equipment needs and advice.
    a few flaws

    White Wax Wood Escrima



    Ok, I realize this was turned from natural wood, but this stick has many flaws. I was afraid it would shatter upon impact but it withstood a thrashing against a large tree so I guess its OK. the flaws are so obvious and ugly I had to cover it in vinyl tape to hide them. If not for strength of the wood I would have returned this one but I believe they may all have minor flaws. I don't use this stick to fight with I just show it to my class to let them know how strong a real escrima stick actually is vs. he padded one we use.

    nice gloves!

    Combat Sports MMA Gloves



    ordered 2 of these for my self defense class and love them, I was going to use a store bought version from EL but the paddig on these is much thicker! you can go full contact if you want to! the finger straps can restrict movement alittle but I haven't lost a grab to it yet, so no harm no foul.

    best knife ever!

    Rubber Practice Knife



    these rubber knives are notoriously floppy, but these are made from nice stiff tire rubber! just like the ones I had as a kid. they might leave a bruise if you practice full contact, but how else do you learn? these are better than what I ever could have expected. this is the best knife for the money!

    Black Karate Uniform



    although the first uniform I bought was the wrong size, that was my fault, not KD.com's. the other uniforms I bought were all of the same quality, excellent! they are nice and heavy like blue jeans and give a nice "snap" when kicking. the seams are strong enough for jiujitsu but might tear after a few months of judo. but thier perfect for MMA which is what I use them for. well worth the money. I applied my dojo's symbol on the back with avery dark transfers and the fabric soaked them up very well, that transfer is now very perminent!

    good shoes for wushu.

    very light weight and easy to spin on. these shoes are exactly what I needed. the soles are a little stiff but they will loosen over time.

    order larger for wide feet!

    Kung Fu Shoes



    got the shoes for tai chi, and found the normal size 46 didn't fit my fat 13 size american feet! I called the number and was quickly set a new (size 47) pair free of charge. the one size made a world of difference! now I'm not getting fabric burns on my toes.
