Rebreakable Boards

At our studio we must break a pine board that is 12in x 12in x 1 inch thick. My son needs to practice board breaking he is 9 and will be testing for black belt. I am trying to find a board that is challenging yet realistic to what he is required to do. I am looking at the rebreakable for brown, what does 1.75 boards mean? Is this equivalant to a board that is 1.75 inches thick? Which color do you recommend for the dimensions I listed above? Thanks!
