re-breakable is not breakable

Training Rebreakable Board

Hi Karate Depot,

I purchased the re-breakable board for my 10 y.o son (green belt in TKD) as a Christmas present, along with several other items.

Using the board is very difficult and it doesn't break even with hammer fist, & any other attempts hurt the hand. The only way to get it to break apart is when my son stands on it. Then, to get it back together, it won't even slide back, it's too tight, and will only slide together 1/4 or1/2 way (and that's difficult)... you could give yourself a hernia trying to put it back together! I did watch the video suggestion on how to put it back together by using the rubber end of a hammer, but the board I have will not even slide together so that there's only an inch left to tap into place.

My son is disappointed in this item, and I'm not sure if it will ever get 'broken in' enough for him alone to slide back into place after breaking. Should he keep jumping up and down on it to 'break it in' or is it a defect in the board?

What do you suggest? I want him to get as much enjoyment out of this item as he has the other items I purchased from your website. As it is now, I feel I wasted $15.00 on a piece of plastic that doesn't do anything.

Thank you kindly,
Lisa
