I practice Kali/Escrima, and will use these sticks for stick-to-stick contact drills such as sinawali, redonda, and reverse redonda. No rattan stick lasts forever in this usage, but these look and feel like they will do nicely. Good diameter (about 1", and even between the two sticks I got), good weight, good hardness.
Note to martial artists: wrapping these with the black teflon-coated kevlar tape from CS Hyde Co. makes them work better and last 3-4 times longer than just electrical tape. It costs a bit ($35/roll), but it's worth it in the end. Just wrap the contact part that usually splinters (8 inch zone, stopping 2 inches before the distal end of the stick) in a spiral pattern. Their PEEK tape works well too, but not as well as kevlar.

We bought these sticks for our 11 yr old's birthday. We were disappointed with our set as the colors were off some and one was a little longer then the other. He didn't really notice and loved them so we didn't send them back.

Hey Batman. An escrima stick is a 26 inch, rounded and well sanded wooden implement. It is used in kali stick fighting arts and is both quick and maneuverable. Generally, they are used in pairs but can also be used single.

If you want to see them in action, a quick search on youtube should do the trick!

Great sticks. Great price.

Order 4 sticks. 1 was a little warped but still okay for practice. Stick look heavy but are actually light weight. My 9 and 11 year old uses them just fine. Love the design on it. I did tape it up with some black duckt tape for some extra protection. Very statisfied with this purchase. I even showed it to my Guru and he also gave it a thumbs up for quality and price.

Okay ... not great

After using them once a week for two months, they are already starting to fray.

No disrespect to the other reviews here but I honestly could not recommend these sticks. The weight is slightly heavier and thicker compared to a standard rattan stick. However, neither properties of the burnt rattan resulted in a sturdier material and surprisingly it feels very "none dense" compared to the weight and feel. It frayed in about two months after practicing arcos and abanicos compared to the simpler sticks I've bought in the past from my gym. Personally, I've found the white wax wood sticks to be the best. I've been using them for almost a year and they've taken a beating but haven't frayed. Rather they dent. The only disadvantage is that they're 26 inches instead of the standard 28 which does create a slight problem.

Very light. Very fast. Balance and diameter is perfect. They deserve five stars as beginning sticks, or practice sticks. The burnt hardening won't hold up for extended hard contact, but for the money they're by far the best buy on the market for practice sticks.

The sticks that I recieved look different than those that are shown in the picture, so I'm assuming that they changed suppliers etc. at some point. To be honest I found these to be very soft. After 30 minutes of practicing with a partner (who was also using rattan sticks) they looked worse than ones that they were purchased to replace. These might be ok for real light duty, but to be honest I would not purchase these again.

I ordered two of these and when I got them they were pretty good the finish is kind of missing in a few places and ones skinnier then the other but these are light and strong.

Solid Escrima sticks. Feels right, good balance, looks great and at an affordable price. A no-brainer. Watch out though, make sure you order a pair since the sticks are sold individually.

I had to place 2 orders for 2 sets. The first set I got were very different in size, so I ordered another set. Other than that, they are great. Very lightweight-nice design.

Awesome! Escrima stick!!- Student of Shotokan style

I use two of these Escrima sticks and let me tell you they are great. They are light, but not to light. They are great for novice and advanced users. Plus they have a great look.

Great Buy

I bought two of these Escrima sticks, and I am very pleased with what I got. They're quite light, but at the same time, they're very strong. Good product. Recommended.
