Unique 'tiger stripe' burn patterns
Decorative carvings at one end to provide a secure grip

This unique escrima stick is made from lightweight rattan wood, then heat treated to harden it which adds durability and strength. The Tiger Skin Escrima also features inlaid carvings at one end that are not only decorative but also provide a secure and comfortable grip. Unlike traditional rattan escrima sticks, The Tiger Skin escrima stick has unique burn patters to resemble tiger stripes as well as a thick, rich gloss that provides a durable and protective finish. The light weight and flashy look of this escrima stick make it a great choice for display and demonstrations. Available in 1" x 26" as well as 1" by 28".

Tapered Hardwood Bo
A. Hey Jimmy - tapered bos are generally considered better for spinning. The taper makes the ends light and places the center of gravity more dominantly in the middle. Non-tapered bos are considered better for application and bunkai (meaning they can take better beatings because they are thicker). Of course, that is also relevant to wood type. If you want something specific for competitions, taper might be the way to go. If you intend to pursue bunkai and kobudo kumite, go with non-taper.

A. This comes in a pair (two)

Fighting Bo
A. Hey Money - this bo is designed for performance and practice. Ash is a light wood and the taper makes it even lighter. However, this bo will not stand up to repeated abuse through hard contact. You could use it for protection, but it is not ideal for that.

I was so happy KD started carrying these in both the 26 and 28 inch sizes - these are my second favorite stick on the market (I haven't actually seen my favorite for 15 years) - the sticks were straight, dense - and from experience they last for years. Permalink
