I enjoy these Kamas a lot, they are great metal, and good construction; my only problem was when I got them there was a crack going from where the blade was attached down about 1/2 an inch, it grew a little but I managed to stop it with wood glue and have fortified the area under the blades (about 3 inches) with duct tape for both fortification and practicing without the wood chipping, but other than that I love these Kamas and that one minor flaw in the shipping had nothing to do with the product itself but I would recommend anyone who buys these to fortify from where the blade meets the wood to about 3 inches below with duct tape (multiple layers make it really poofy with duct tape it makes a good shock absorber too).

When received, both Kamas had some damage on the top near the blades. One Kama, the wood was kind of split where the blade was attached to the wood (you could see two ‘cracks’ of about one inch running down from where the blade was attached, one on each side). The other Kama did not have cracks in the wood, but some deep marks on the wood on the blade end, and a small piece of wood near the top was almost chipped off

I found the kamas to be of poor quality. The handles are finished at the ends with a slight taper, but that part of the handle has to be cut off because the kamas are too long for competition or practical use. 14 inches is an average length for competition.
The blade is anchored near the top of the handle. A slight pressure on the blade caused the wood to split through the anchor pin hole. It is located way too close to the top of the handle. A cap or the blades anchored an inch or so down the handle would have improved the strength of the design.
The blades (tangs) should be cut differently (longer following the conture of the handle) so that they can be anchored farther down the handles. There is too much torque at the present location of affixing the blade to the handle. The wood cannot keep from splitting.
I do like the steel blades, its just a poor design overall... Mine broke the second time I used them. Fortunately no one was hurt with the blade flying off of the handle.

When we were looking for a pair of kamas - we were afraid that the blades would be sharp. This is the perfect pair for learning and practicing.

A must have

These Kamas are really cool, they are a bit small, but that makes them all the more agile and easy to spin, which is key for my style. I fell in love with them immediately, easy to use, great price, and smooth look, can you ask for more???
