Product Description

15" red oak handle
7" unsharpened steel blade
Blade attached to handle via dual rivet
Sold in pairs
Oval handle shape

Solid red oak handled kama, ideal for kata and light contact training.

These kama are based on traditional design and utilize a slightly curved steel blade. The blade comes unsharpened and is fastened to the handle via dual rivets. The handle is slightly oval to assist the user in knowing where the blade is pointed during use. These weapons are sold and used in pairs.

I think the metal might be a bit thin for that, but I can't say for certain as I have never seen it attempted.

I am very happy with the construction and overall appearance of the kama. They are double riveted and have a metal cap over the split ends of the wood where the blades are attached. If the rivets become loose, it is very easy to re-pene and tighten them. The caps are loose but that is to be expected as the wood will shrink somewhat over time. My solution is to tape the top section of the kamas. This also protects the wood wood when you pacticee bunkai with a partner. Permalink
