Q. Well sadly I got the sticker put on the Bo, but it only took about 20 minutes to get all of it off and the residue. I took the Bo outside and did about 20 minutes of full force contact sparring and it had no marks on it. Its got nice weight my scale showed it at just under 2 pounds. It has great balance in the middle and makes for easy palm spins. Will leave more feedback saying how long it lasts when it breaks which hopefully wont be for months.

They last well for mid level sparring, and I would recommend them for all levels so long as you're not attempting to just wail on each other with them. Make sure to take off the red strips, they are not only meant to come off, but they shinai is more likely to break with them on. the weapon is also much more dangerous with them on because it can't absorb shock as well.

I just started kendo and this shinai is holding up very well. in class we have sparred and so far I cant see any sign of damage on this shinai. after about 7 classes the only difference I can see on this shinai is that the handle is getting discolored but there is no damage to the shinai. this is a great buy and it will last you a long time....buy this shinai!

Q. My brother and I use these to develop our 2 sword style. The bamboo is very durable, but one of the red strings snapped the first time I hit him with it. Here's a tip: I use my sister's hairspray to make the strings stay on better. Highly recommended.

Q. I don't have a lot of experience with other shinais, but friends who have used mine (and DO have experience) think it's a simple but very nice little number. I wish the ballance were shifted more towards the hilt, but you adapt quickly. Forget the little red strings - mine lasted all of 15 minutes (and I still keep finding them every now and then).
Also, thanks to an accident, I can verify that they can handle being left out in the rain, and can survive active use in the middle of a river (we were drunk). Durable and strong, though they need occasional tightening.

Q. Good Bo staff. Weight varies because I have used many of these same exact staffs. This is a rattan bo without the skin of the rattan wood. In general this staff is lighter than the rattan bo's with the skin on them. The rattan skin bo's do not get dented as easily as these. Takes a very good beating but, it gets dented very easily, that's the only downside about it. Both types of bo's (rattan bo w/skin and w/out skin) have their ups and downs. I recommend this staff to parishioners of all ages. Very good bo.

Q. Describing the feeling of the material is a little difficult. It's somewhat like an imitation cotton, without the color-bleedingness, and the heavy weight of cotton. It's actually surprisingly durable. Wearing it for weeks now, each day all day (high school students value pants that cost $75)- and hand washing it with cold water, everything seems to still be perfectly tethered together, even having tripped a good many times. (The length of the hakama is about two inches shorter then touching the ground for each recommended height per size, ie, I buy a small for 5'5'' people, and being 5'4''ish, it almost drags)
In reference to pleats, the folds are held decently. To keep them clean, I'd suggest ironing the article often if you have to have them straight and sharp, but otherwise, the general shape of the folds show. Probably holds creases a little less well then thick cotton, but also keeps cool, and lightweight.
As mentioned, the thing's virtually colorfast, having worn it this much, you can only imagine all the washing, I've done, and in cold water, it's stayed a perfectly dark black.
The shipment arrived promptly, so no real issues, on that end, it is exactly what I wanted, and when I get the funds, I plan on purchasing a couple more. Certainly the best buy I could find online.

To keep them clean, I'd suggest ironing the article often if you have to have them straight and sharp, but otherwise, the general shape of the folds show. Probably holds creases a little less well then thick cotton, but also keeps cool, and lightweight.
As mentioned, the thing's virtually colorfast, having worn it this much, you can only imagine all the washing, I've done, and in cold water, it's stayed a perfectly dark black.
The shipment arrived promptly, so no real issues, on that end, it is exactly what I wanted, and when I get the funds, I plan on purchasing a couple more. Certainly the best buy I could find online.

Q. Basics:
Very strong, durable wood. However, when practicing, don't plan on keeping the little red strings on. After an hour of training mine were all off. In any case, the swords certainly isn't just for looks. Other than the small decorative strings, this practical equipment is certainly a superb training sword that should last quite some time.
