Since this boken comes without a Guard or Tsuba, does anyone know where to get a rubber/soft plastic Tsuba that fits this boken ?

Pretty decently weighted and good length. You can't beat its durability either. I've had mine for a few years and have done my fair share of incorrect fooling around, but it's still as good as new.

I bought this from a while ago; it is incredible for all levels of skill, but especially if you're just starting out

    Good, but could be better...

I think it is an excellent product, overall. The one problem is that I used it against a real Bastard Sword, and the bastard sword nearly knocked my plastic bokken to the floor. The idea shouldn't be to use it in practice on real swords, just other plastic bokken. The blade of the bastard sword took severe damage, as well as every other ''Functional'' katana and sword I used to spar with. So 3.5 stars.

    Great Product!

I love this product! It is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I plan on ordering one tonight, and I hope everyone else does! I had an idea (I've done this before), If you wrap this in duct tape (or some other type of durable tape) then you can have a better grip on the handle, it won't bounce as much, and if it does gradually peel as stated in a previous review, then that problem will be eliminated, as every layer will be held in place by the tape. Simply wrapping a wooden dowel (stick) with painter's tape REALLY increased the lifetime of it. I hope this helps someone!

    very impressed...

very impressed. I love this bokken. completely indestructible. side to side movement is some what flimsy, but after all it is plastic. my students don't like it because it breaks their wooden ones... :) would definitely recommend for someone that's as heavy handed as I am.

    Practice durability & usage.

I have been practicing for a few years and tried many different types of practice weapons and have found that the long lasting Bokken works the best. It does have a bit of kickback, but if you are using 2 hands, it shouldn't be a problem. There is a small problem when you try and force the other persons blade down where the Bokken bends to the sides, but that was going against a hard wooden one. Overall it has very good performance and holds up better than the wooden ones (The long lasting Bokken had scuffs while the wooden one had notches from the strikes). It is worth every penny if you are looking for a good practice weapon. Also usable with shanai's.

    Nothing Better

My friend and I each bought one a few months ago. The bokken is formed using layers upon layers of polypropylene, so instead of breaking, the bokken VERY gradually peels off in paper thin flakes of plastic (mine has yet to peel at all). This is the most durable practice weapon you can buy and it's well worth the extra money over wood. I've done full contact sparring and stage fighting with this weapon and it has but a few dents and nicks in the ''blade.'' To prove it's durability, I've hit concrete edges with full strikes to find no significant damage to the bokken. It's very very flexible, and very light (like a real katana) This thing is virtually indestructible. The only downside is a slippery handle (which can be fixed with rough gaffer's tape) and an unnatural feel that you would otherwise get with hardwood bokkens. I wouldn't recommend anything else.

I hit my door at home with this bokken by accident. The door was almost in two pieces but the bokken had no damage! This is awesome!!!!!!!

Longer Lasting Bokken is worth the buy

This practice sword is very durable, i've hit it many times with the intention of trying to bust it, but it hard takes a scratch. Although i took off a few inches on the handle because i wanted to use it as a one handed sword, it stays in great shape. The only downfalls are the price and the amount of rebound when you strike the bokken on something, doesn't vibrate but bounces back considerably. Still think it was worth the buy though, and hope the price comes down so i can get a second one; my style is used with twin swords.

    Unbreakable

Truly, truly unbreakable. It's a tough plastic and can take anything. In the first half hour I beat the stuff out of it, and there isn't even a scratch! The only bad thing is - it's PLASTIC. So it's very slippery. I used sports tape on the handle. Other than that, it's perfect.

I own a katana which isn't a cheap knock off. This longer lasting bokken is lighter and has a longer handle by at least an inch which is a big difference to me. If you were to go up against a wooden bokken or katana, you would have an advantage of speed if you were equally as skilled. Now this all seems like a great idea, but I want some thing more realistic. Only buy it if your going against the same bokken by cold steel and just want to joke around.
