Product Description
    • Thick canvas upper
    • Velcro closure along the length of the boot
    • Ridged tread pattern provides excellent traction while reducing noise produced by foot movement
    • Also available in a long version
    • Men's sizes. Women, order one size down

These traditional-styled tabi boots are made with a thick canvas upper. The boots are secured by a Velcro closure that runs from the base of the heel to the top of the boot. The soles feature a split-toe design, this is to keep the natural gripping ability of the foot while keeping it protected from the elements. The soles also feature a ridged tread design to provide extra grip and traction while remaining virtually noiseless. Also available in a long version.

These shoes are designed to fit very tightly around the foot. If you would prefer a more comfortable, sneaker-like fit, consider ordering one size larger than what you would normally wear.

Amazing

These Tabi boots are the best shoes I've ever bought. They're VERY light. It feels like I am wearing socks with thin rubber soles on them. They're also very flexible for climbing trees and stuff. The velcro keeps them very snug and they are really silent. I recommend you get them 1 size bigger than your normal shoe size so they aren't really tight. (my friend got his normal shoe size and the toe on his boots ripped after a few months.) Also, you don't need the tabi socks unless there too uncomfortable for you. I just pushed in my socks in-between my 1st and 2nd toe and did it that way and it wasn't weird feeling after the 3rd or 4th time.

The downside to these is that after a half a year of wearing them (if you wear them as much as I did) the grip stars to get un-grippy and they rip near the bottom, but if your not too extreme with them they will last a good while.

I aaliyah. Here is what you should do. Get a ruler and measure how many inches long your foot is.Then go to this page: http://www.zappos.com/c/shoe-size-conversion

Look at the "mens" chart and find the amount of inches your foot is. That is the right shoe size for you!

I'm not a parkour practitioner, but I do think these would be good. If you think about it, they provide good grip, are lightweight, and give a little ankle support. Being able to feel the surface under your feet would probably be beneficial. They only downside is that they don't buffer impact from jumping as well as full-on shoes.

Very nice (w/ some exceptions)

These shoes are very comfy, not so supportive though. If you have knee problems I wouldn't recommend walking in them too much, because the sole of the shoes are very thin. I get many compliments on them. ORDER A SIZE (or 1/2 a size) LARGER THAN YOUR OWN. I usually wear a 11-11.5 mens and I saw from the rest of the reviews this same advice so I got the 12 and they fit very snug.
Also, I have a thicker ankle and calf and the velcro does not fassen all the way to the top of the boot. Be aware, if you have thicker ankles like I do, that the rough side of the velcro is facing outward and MAY ware down the seams of your pants in the back from the exposed velcro (this happened to me, but is a quick fix if you know how to sew).
Anyway, they are awesome shoes and I love wearing them.

There's a slight bit of padding between the inside of the shoe and the rubber sole, but it's intentionally thin so you can feel the ground.

Comparison

how good are these compaired to the tall boots in terms of outdoor use?
by: ppp475
2/27/2012 9:15:17 PM

They have the same general construction, however the short boots have less ankle/calf support. Some people find the shorter design more mobile and breathable, while the taller ones protect the legs and provide support.

by: jkl

Not really jkl. The soles are rubber but the upper portion is canvas, which can absorb water.

The boots can withstand outdoor use, but are susceptible to moisture.

Fantastic

Bought these last week and already extremely happy with my decision. They fit nice and snug (which is what I wanted) so I don't even really notice that I'm wearing anything. Excellent grip for climbing/running. For those wondering, I've tried the tabi socks I bought and regular socks. I imagine it's something you could get used to (regular socks) but for the price I'd stick with tabi socks. You know it'll be comfortable.

No, the socks are not included Ninja. While you CAN get away with normal socks, it can feel a bit bunched up and cramped. I recommend grabbing a pair of tabi socks here: wp-ni-15 because they are so inexpensive.

Hey Matt. I haven't worn those brands personally - sorry. But I can say these tend to hug the foot due to their nature (think climbing, jumping, etc). So if I had to guess, I would say they are probably more like Converse.

Hi Sly. Yes, we can ship these to New Zealand. To figure out shipping and cost, add these to your cart and proceed through the checkout process. The website will inform you of all options and charges before requiring you to commit to a purchase.

For reference, this would equate to about $37 in New Zealand currency (without shipping).

I'd say 11 DarkeJoey, although these are meant to be snug. They won't feel like running shoes, especially if you have wide feet.

If you're concerned about that, perhaps a 12 might be better.

Hi Emily. The sizes you are seeing on this page are in US mens. That means your women's size 5 converts to about a 3.5. I'd recommend going with the 4, just so you don't end up too snug.

short vs. tall

which ones are better for parkour and climbing?
by: glomanmmx
12/11/2010 8:06:33 PM

The short boots tend to be a bit better for those purposes because the ankle is free to bend and move. The long boots are fine as well, and are useful if you want a bit more support for your ankles and protection against scrapes on your legs.

I'd imagine they would last over a year for you, although I don't have any evidence to back that up. No one I know has used them as their everyday shoe.

The sides are flexible so there is a little wiggle room on the width. If you get them and they just don't work out let us know, we'll arrange a refund or exchange.

Ok i have a couple questions. Which are better for sneaking, the short or tall tabis or are the the same? Where do they wear the most? Which shoes are better for climbing trees?

It's about the same for sneaking - the difference there really comes in the soles rather than the ankle support.

Not sure I understand the second question.

The short are a bit better for climbing trees because they are a little more free, although the long do protect your ankles and lower legs against brush burn.

Are the short boots or tall boots better for running around outside and climbing trees? Are they made out of the same material, or is one more sturdy than the other? What about the size of the shoe, sometimes I wear size 10 and sometimes size 11, (mens of coarse) which size to I get?

Thanks!

The difference between the low top and high top is mostly ankle support. The high top has better ankle support but are a bit hotter. High tops also protect against brush and bark a little better.

Go with the size 10 - they'll be snug, but you want that.

Regarding size: is this men's sizes? If my feet are 8.75 inches long,
what size would you suggest for me?

Hi patti. Yes these are mens sizes. Grab your womens shoe size and then consult this chart here - http://www.i18nguy.com/l10n/shoes.html

That should get you the conversion you need.

Go with the size 10. They run about the same as normal shoes, but you'll want them to be snug. If they happen to be too snug, just let us know and we'll exchange them for 11.

These shoes can tolerate some outdoor use, however they aren't as sturdy as modern work boots or anything like that.

These are amazing, they are very comfortable, but one warning they wear out after about a week of wearing them if you wear them all the time but they are well worth the price.

great!

Really comfortable, though you might need to get some soles or paddings, also you might want to avoid getting stepped on. Always buy a size larger than what you are wearing now

Shoes of the awesome!

I loved these shoes! It feels likes I'm walking on air, they're so comfortable! The only reason I didn't give them a 5 is because they started looking like pigs feet or camel toes about 3 days into wearing them. It's not that bad because unless you're looking for camel toes you don't see them.

Coolest part of any ninja outfit

I got them with the Ninja Costume set (best deal on the net) The short boots are pretty easy to get on (get the tabi socks you will not regret it!) Once on, the heel and ankle was a little loose, and of course an Amerika-jin is not used to such forms of footwear, but once I wore them around the house, took a few runs around the yard, I barely notice the looseness. I will get some cheap slipper insoles because these boots are high impact on the ground and I like a snug fit. My only real complaint is that the space in between my toes began to get sore after a while, but maybe it's just me since I just started wearing flip-flops and zori this year. All in all, these just look freakin awesome. I kept looking at my feet in the mirror I couldn't get over the awesomeness. Well worth the money and waiting for them on backorder.

Ninja Turtle Boots!!!!

Ok, so I got these, and I was thrilled with the fit. 10's were perfect for me (they fit like a size 9 bowling shoe). These plus the socks were very very comfortable!! When I wore them to my gym class everyone was making comments on how they looked like the ninja turtle feet. Then I smoked them all on the mile and was not so tired. THEY ARE THE LIGHTEST MOST COMFORTABLE SHOES EVER! The only problem is there is no arch support, which isn't to bad. If your thinking of buying them and your unsure if they are comfortable b/c of the split toe, GET THEM. the split toe is actually more comfortable than regular shoes and sock.

Very comfortable, but why velcro?

For shoes that are supposed to be silent, these are pretty noisy. The sole is just fine, but the velcro attachment is absurd. Whose idea was it to put velcro on Tabi boots? Every bend of the ankle is accompanied by the velcro creaking and popping, making it impossible to sneak.

Other users have said these are absolutely silent. How did you silence the velcro, please?

Besides the velcro, these are very light and comfortable shoes. I recommend ordering one (or even two) sizes smaller to ensure a snug fit. I wear a 9, and ordered a 7, which fit perfectly.

I plan on removing the velcro and adding laces to make these shoes suitable for stealth.

GREAT!!!

I am very happy with my tabi boots, it does take a while to get used to them though. I use them all the time for basically sneaking up on people and playing with my friends. If you wear them outside you sort of get the feeling that you're bear-footed, and you might feel kind of weird, but also when I wear them all of my friends think they're cool and want to try them on. All and all if you're into ninjutsu or ninjas period then you'll love them! But I think you should get the longer ones, just because they are original and they look cooler!

Ok, these shoes are awesome! Comfort is maximum, they can handle impact and great for silent running, they barely make noise even in the woods! Great buy!!! The tabi socks are also worth the money.

Comfortable

I normally wear a size 8 1/2'' in shoes . I ordered these in a size 9 and they fit perfectly. The velcro closures on the back are excellent. I liked these so much that I have ordered a set of the tall boots and will post a review once I get them.

Super-comfortable

These are a must-have for anyone who likes going barefoot. I have spent most of my life trying to escape shoes, and these are the first shoes I've had to remember to take off! Thick cotton upper part protects from cold as efficiently as any form of running shoe, and doesn't suck in or hold in water. The rubber sole is thin and flat, which is bad for people who are used to shoes, but great for those who love being barefoot! When you wear them, they fit the feet so well you can hardly tell you're wearing any shoes!

Great buy and very durable

I personally used these shoes and recommend them to my students as well because of their long usage life. The are far more durable than traditional tabi which I also wear. I only rate them four stars because I like the traditional tabi tab/loop closures and they are difficult to wear with wariji and geta. Overall they are an excellent Dojo/outdoor tabi!

Great shoes

These are definitely high-quality shoes, they haven't ripped, torn, or anything, and I used to wear them everywhere. They're great even without the ninja uniform. Great pair of shoes.

pretty cool shoes

These shoes were described accurately and are a snug fit. They were shipped in a very timely matter....the only reason i give 4 stars instead of 5 is because they don't have an arch in the shoe which makes it uncomfortable to walk.I just cut up one of my old shoe's padding so it can fit in these shoes with the split toe.Overall great shoe! and even better store!!!!
