How to Put On This Ninjutsu Uniform (and Sizing Advice)

This video details how to put on all the components of this ninjutsu uniform. Also discussed are tabi boots, socks, and ninjutsu style bokken. Tips about sizing are dispersed throughout.

The video on how to actually put the outfit on could be better. The order suggested didn't seem like the best way in my opinion, and having never worn a ninja outfit or anything similar, I would have benefited from seeing the right way to put the jacket on instead of watching someone put everything on and leave the jacket open the entire time. As I said, the bokken was pretty cool, but it should have also been shown in the video so we know EXACTLY what we're getting (assuming people that order the outfit don't get different looking bokken that is).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpt0JfU0BM8&feature=related

This video in combination with the video given on this site will help anyone else that might not know how to put the outfit on. It might even be better than the given video and useable on its own.

I'd like to order this suit for my 5 year old, but it says your smallest boot size is a 4. My kid is closer to a size one. Any suggestions?

Hi Laura. Unfortunately I don't think we have sizes small enough to help you. I think the best we could do is a size 3 in these kung fu shoes, and then you would add on some very thick socks :-) cl-sh-29.

Hi Horus. You could go small for a form fitting uniform or a medium for a safer bet for a comfortable fit. As for the boots, it looks like we sold out of 9, so if your feet are on the smaller side of 9 go with an 8. Otherwise go 10.

Ninja outfit deluxe

I ordered the deluxe ninja outfit on October 23' paid Fed Ex ground, and received the package by October 27. The uniform is high quality cotton. Heavy duty. I am 5' 11" and weigh 193 pounds so the XL size fit perfectly. The boots were disappointing. I ordered a size 11 and could barely squeeze my feet in without socks. And yes, I wear regular size 11 for all shoes, even sneakers. Overall, the outfit is great! I'll be a ninja for several Halloweens.

Feel, the feel...

What does the costume feel like? Is it loose or tight when you have it on? Is the material soft and silky or rough and cotton-like? (not the real material just the feel of it.)

I general the uniform is form fitting, but not tight unless you order a bit too small. The material has a cotton type feel to it.

Does it come with a belt for the waist?

Does the costume come with a belt/trap to hold the torso together? Since the top over laps one side, it would easily come undone without a belt of some sort. So, does it come with something that ties around the waist to hold the top together?

Hi Fillip. The uniform doesn't come with a separate belt, however the pants have extended wrap-around straps similar to a hakama. You can use the straps to tie around yourself and keep the jacket closed.

Sizing

I am 6'5 and 145 pounds with size 12 shoes (it varies).I also measured my foot with a ruler and got 11 inches. I am quite a skinny boy. What size would match me? I really don't want to deal with baggy pants unless you guys can suggest something for me. But anyway, what size would be perfect for me? And what shoe size would you think is good for me?

I think the large might be a little bit short for you. Although the XL will be a touch baggy, it might be your best bet.

As for shoes - go with the size 12. It should be a nice fit.

Yes you are looking at cotton for any of the ninjutsu uniforms. As for the boots - he would fit nicely into a size 3, although if you want a little growing room bump up to the size 4 (that might be smart if he is going to be a ninja in future years).

The outfit comes with a light wooden sword that is painted black. It does not have a sheath but can be tucked into the pant ties.

Hope this helps!

Material

I would like to get my 8 year old son a ninja outfit. I would like to know the costume material to decide whether to get him the costume or the outfit. Are they both cotton?
Also he wears a size 5 shoe - I just measured his foot is 21 and a half centimeters - can you recommend a size for the boots?
The costume comes with a sword right?
Thanks for your help!

Hi calipinoy. The tabi tend to run very similar to most running shoes.

I'm not able to discern your gender by your user name, but if you are male then use these numbers as you would any regular shoe. If you are female, convert yoru shoe size into mens size and use the numbers accordingly.

Hey I'm 13 and about 5 foot 7 inches, and 105 pounds. I am also kinda skinny. I don't want the uniform to be to baggy because I want to be able to climb trees and hide and stuff, but I also want it to be long enogh. Should I get the medium, or get the large and put it through the drier?

Go with the medium. In fact you could probably fit in the small, but if you go medium and it's a little baggy you can use the hot-wash/drier method to shrink it to size.

Happy climbing!

Size Question

Looking to order this for my son. He is 6'4" and 180 pounds. Is there a "right" size for him, Thinking XXL b/c of the height, but worried it will be very sloppy. He wears a size 14 shoe, so I guess the 13 is the biggest you have and will have to work. Are the shipping quotes accurate? It looks like FEDEX Ground will get it here to Ohio by Friday, can that be counted on, or do I need to do the 2 day shipping?
by: SGImpact

I think he'd be ok with the XL, it would be less sloppy than the xxl on him but still suitable for his height.

Generally those shipping predictions are correct, although you do have the halloween rush to consider. 2nd day is a little pricier, but also a safer bet.

So I'm 5'6 130 lbs should I get medium or large? and with shoe sizes I'm womans 8 1/2 - 9ish so what shoe size would that be?

You can keep the jacket closed by tucking it under the pants and utilizing the pant ties around it.

Sizing

I'm 5'6" and around 235lbs. I'm worried about what size to get. The XXL seems as if it will be WAY to long, but the XL seems it may be too snug. Can you help please? Thanks

I think the XL will be able to accommodate you. They have pretty good roominess.

Wash and dry????

Just received my son's order...kinda stiff and I would like to soften up in the wash before first use. I only see washing instructions in the pants. Is everything (except the boots) machine washable? And what about the dryer?

Yes all of the parts are machine washable. Since cotton is involved if you spin dry there will be some shrinking. You can go that route, or let hang dry for less shrinking.

Hey Michael, I think a size 11 would reduce any pain from the split toe or shoe in general.

You'll fit in a size medium, with a 9 shoe. Add the items to your cart and go to checkout. From there, before you submit any payment info, you'll see shipment options and when they estimate the time of arrival.

After adding this costume to my cart, it shows a shipping amount of $33.50. Would you have an affordable shipping option to 96782?  Your website advertises something around  $2.95 for shipping. Please advise.

material and scabbard?

Is the uniform cotten and does the bokken come with a scabbard like is shown in the picture?

Hi bubba. This uniform does not come with the bokken or scabbard, this is just the clothing, which I believe is a cotton/poly blend.

If you'd like to get a sword to accompany this uniform, you can either go with this set:wp-ni-91 (no scabbard there), or shop the swords here: http://www.karatedepot.com/swords.html.

I believe you could fit a large with a little snugness around the midsection. You could go xl but would have to cuff the sleeves and pant legs.

I think the medium would be a comfortable fit for you. As for shoes, bump it up to a 10.

Couple questions for bulk order

Hello!

This Halloween a group of friends and I are thinking about being ninjas. Any bulk discounts? We are getting 5 if we go through with it, but that number may be likely to grow. Shopping around I came across this site. If we ordered in teh next week or two when could we expect the costumes? I am in Southern California. I just want to make sur ethey would not be on back order.
When shipped is each costume separate from one another? I just would want to make sure all the costume parts for one person are kept separate from anothers, so specific sized items aren't mixed up.

Also help with sizing suggestions would be great since I will be pruchasing for the group.
So far our clan is:

Nick- 155 lbs, 5'10.5", Size 9.5 men's shoes
Breanne- 150 lbs, 5'4", Size 6.5 - 7 in womens shoes
Chris- 140 lbs, 5'6", size 10.5 in men'a shoes
Ashley- 140 lbs, 5'6", size 8 in women's shoes
Ben- 160 lbs, 6'2", size 11.5 in men's shoes

Thanks in advance for your response! -Nick

Hey Nick. Let's look at sizes first -

Nick - Large, 10 shoe
Breanne - Medium, 6 shoe
Chris - Medium, 11 shoe
Ashley - Medium, 7 shoe
Ben - XL (or a snug large), 12 shoe

In order to get your shipping estimates, add the appropriate items to your cart and goto checkout. Before you have to submit any payment you'll see shipping options and the corresponding cost. If you order soon you should have no problem getting things before Halloween. If you have anyone else who needs to order, get their info asap so you don't have any last minute problems.

We don't have bulk shipping discounts, but if you do place this order email me at matt@karatedepot.com. Maybe I can arrange for a little something extra for you.

Child Sizing Question

Hi,

I'm ordering for my son. He wears a boys' Size 3 Shoes. Will any of the boots fit him?

What do you recommend for sizing on the uniform? He's 4 ft 4 in & 58 lbs.

Thanks so much for your help!

Converted children shoe sizes is difficult and a bit unpredictable. Instead, measure his foot in inches and compare it to this chart: http://www.zappos.com/measure-your-shoe-size. Since our boots are listed in adult mens sizes, you'll be able to get a more accurate reading.

I believe the xs would be a good uniform size choice.

We do have them from time to time, but we don't generally stock as many of those so when they run out it tends to be a little while before we get new ones in. You may have to check back in a month or so.

I want to upgrade to high tabi boots, can I send the low cuts back and then make another purchase for the high cuts

If you bought the boots separately from the uniform, that could be possible. If they were part of the full costume as found on this page, then you'll have to grab the low cuts separate here: wp-ni-13. In the long run, with all the shipping costs, it might be just as cost effective to do that anyway.

Contact csupport@karatedepot.com if you need more info on an exchange.
