How to Put On This Ninjutsu Uniform (and Sizing Advice)

This video details how to put on all the components of this ninjutsu uniform. Also discussed are tabi boots, socks, and ninjutsu style bokken. Tips about sizing are dispersed throughout.

The video on how to actually put the outfit on could be better. The order suggested didn't seem like the best way in my opinion, and having never worn a ninja outfit or anything similar, I would have benefited from seeing the right way to put the jacket on instead of watching someone put everything on and leave the jacket open the entire time. As I said, the bokken was pretty cool, but it should have also been shown in the video so we know EXACTLY what we're getting (assuming people that order the outfit don't get different looking bokken that is).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpt0JfU0BM8&feature=related

This video in combination with the video given on this site will help anyone else that might not know how to put the outfit on. It might even be better than the given video and useable on its own.

how would i measure my size of my foot for the tabi boots? because i never used one before.

Hi calipinoy. The tabi tend to run very similar to most running shoes.

I'm not able to discern your gender by your user name, but if you are male then use these numbers as you would any regular shoe. If you are female, convert yoru shoe size into mens size and use the numbers accordingly.

Size??

Hey I'm 13 and about 5 foot 7 inches, and 105 pounds. I am also kinda skinny. I don't want the uniform to be to baggy because I want to be able to climb trees and hide and stuff, but I also want it to be long enogh. Should I get the medium, or get the large and put it through the drier?

Go with the medium. In fact you could probably fit in the small, but if you go medium and it's a little baggy you can use the hot-wash/drier method to shrink it to size.

Happy climbing!

The outfit's cool as is the bokken that comes with it. The outfit fit well, so I can also say that the sizing chart is fairly accurate.

Size Question

Looking to order this for my son. He is 6'4" and 180 pounds. Is there a "right" size for him, Thinking XXL b/c of the height, but worried it will be very sloppy. He wears a size 14 shoe, so I guess the 13 is the biggest you have and will have to work. Are the shipping quotes accurate? It looks like FEDEX Ground will get it here to Ohio by Friday, can that be counted on, or do I need to do the 2 day shipping?
by: SGImpact

I think he'd be ok with the XL, it would be less sloppy than the xxl on him but still suitable for his height.

Generally those shipping predictions are correct, although you do have the halloween rush to consider. 2nd day is a little pricier, but also a safer bet.

size & jacket

So I'm 5'6 130 lbs should I get medium or large? and with shoe sizes I'm womans 8 1/2 - 9ish so what shoe size would that be?

and then on the jacket - since there are no strings to tie it how do you get it to stay closed?

Hi Reese. Go with the medium and a shoe size 7.

You can keep the jacket closed by tucking it under the pants and utilizing the pant ties around it.

You can actually tuck the jacket into the pants, utilizing the pant ties to keep everything in place. Alternatively you can integrate a belt to keep it closed.

The xl is the safe bet, although you could probably fit in a large as well (weight would be fine, height might leave your cuffs and sleeves a touch short).

Size

I am 5'8" 163lbs and I ordered a Large size Ninja Costume. Is that too big? should I get a medium? As for the Shoes do they run big or snug? I ordered a 10 but I wear a 10.5 size shoe.

Wash and dry????

Just received my son's order...kinda stiff and I would like to soften up in the wash before first use. I only see washing instructions in the pants. Is everything (except the boots) machine washable? And what about the dryer?
by: hutch33312

Yes all of the parts are machine washable. Since cotton is involved if you spin dry there will be some shrinking. You can go that route, or let hang dry for less shrinking.

Hi bubba. This uniform does not come with the bokken or scabbard, this is just the clothing, which I believe is a cotton/poly blend.

If you'd like to get a sword to accompany this uniform, you can either go with this set:wp-ni-91 (no scabbard there), or shop the swords here: http://www.karatedepot.com/swords.html.

Couple questions for bulk order

Hello!

This Halloween a group of friends and I are thinking about being ninjas. Any bulk discounts? We are getting 5 if we go through with it, but that number may be likely to grow. Shopping around I came across this site. If we ordered in teh next week or two when could we expect the costumes? I am in Southern California. I just want to make sur ethey would not be on back order.
When shipped is each costume separate from one another? I just would want to make sure all the costume parts for one person are kept separate from anothers, so specific sized items aren't mixed up.

Also help with sizing suggestions would be great since I will be pruchasing for the group.
So far our clan is:

Nick- 155 lbs, 5'10.5", Size 9.5 men's shoes
Breanne- 150 lbs, 5'4", Size 6.5 - 7 in womens shoes
Chris- 140 lbs, 5'6", size 10.5 in men'a shoes
Ashley- 140 lbs, 5'6", size 8 in women's shoes
Ben- 160 lbs, 6'2", size 11.5 in men's shoes

Thanks in advance for your response! -Nick

Hey Nick. Let's look at sizes first -

Nick - Large, 10 shoe
Breanne - Medium, 6 shoe
Chris - Medium, 11 shoe
Ashley - Medium, 7 shoe
Ben - XL (or a snug large), 12 shoe

In order to get your shipping estimates, add the appropriate items to your cart and goto checkout. Before you have to submit any payment you'll see shipping options and the corresponding cost. If you order soon you should have no problem getting things before Halloween. If you have anyone else who needs to order, get their info asap so you don't have any last minute problems.

We don't have bulk shipping discounts, but if you do place this order email me at matt@karatedepot.com. Maybe I can arrange for a little something extra for you.

Child Sizing Question

Hi,

I'm ordering for my son. He wears a boys' Size 3 Shoes. Will any of the boots fit him?

What do you recommend for sizing on the uniform? He's 4 ft 4 in & 58 lbs.

Thanks so much for your help!

Converted children shoe sizes is difficult and a bit unpredictable. Instead, measure his foot in inches and compare it to this chart: http://www.zappos.com/measure-your-shoe-size. Since our boots are listed in adult mens sizes, you'll be able to get a more accurate reading.

I believe the xs would be a good uniform size choice.

If you bought the boots separately from the uniform, that could be possible. If they were part of the full costume as found on this page, then you'll have to grab the low cuts separate here: wp-ni-13. In the long run, with all the shipping costs, it might be just as cost effective to do that anyway.

another one of those questions

Hey, I'm between 6'3-6'4 and weigh around 155. Bodywise I consider myself scrawny, andI was just wondering if there was any chance of getting a non-baggy uniform that would still be good for my currently inconvenient height or am I stuck with the bagginess?

The xl would be a little baggy on you, but with all the ties that go into this uniform I think you won't find it too inconvenient. Also the nature of the pants and gi top will allow you to go a size down without feeling any negative height effects.

The Pants

Hi! :) I have another question about the pants. I'm wondering which way it goes. Does the long straps start from the front as I wear them or does it start from the back? And where, when I finish tying, does both knots end up? The back? Front?
Thank you! :) other than that I love the product!

Go with the size small, I think you'll like the fit better. Also a size 4 tabi would probably be comfortable for you.

Hi darksword. The $2.95 shipping is for domestic United States orders - http://www.karatedepot.com/csupport-faq.html#arrive. International shipping is it's own ball of wax I'm afraid.

This is required practice on all web commerce sites, even big dogs like Amazon.

I think a large would be your best bet, especially weight-wise. Understand though that the sleeves and pant legs might be a bit short (the xl is your best fit height-wise but will likely be baggy).

If you order today or tomorrow I would recommend selecting one of the specialty shipping methods rather than the $2.95 saver shipping. Each method will give you an estimated arrival date, but I would go for an option that leaves a little room for flexibility in regards to the shipping companies (ups, fedex, etc) who are bound to be busy this week.

What sizes should we order?

Good Morning! My husband and I are looking into ordering ninja costumes. He's 6'1'' and approximately 156 lbs. I'm 5'2'' and 114 lbs. I'm also assuming the shoe sizes are for men. I'm a woman's 7.5. What sizes would you suggest? Additionally, if we order on Monday, do you think we would have them by the the 30th? Thanks much!

Hi Kimmy. I recommend an xl for your husband. It might be a little baggy but the height will be perfect. I recommend a medium for you (you would fit into a small but the height might be a bit short).

You would want to order a size 6 (you're right, we have them listed in men's above).

If you order today (tuesday) you should be fine, but if you want to be certain I would recommend second day air.

Hi darksword. I understand about the uncertainly of shopping online for the first time. No matter what size you go with, you won't be wasting your money because we accept returns. If you call us up and say 'hey, this size just isn't working for me can I get a different one' we will help you.

That being said, there is no way I can be absolutely sure a size will fit you perfectly, I'm just making my best guess based on your information.

Check the bottom of this page for more sizing guide information. We will have xl's back this coming monday (the 18th) if you think it will fit better. Height wise the xl will definitely be better, so if you aren't worried about the extra weight space it would be the right choice.

We are currently working on a video of how to put the uniform on and what it looks like when worn.

Shipping should not be too long as it will likely ship out of Kansas City. That of course will depend on what kind of shipping you choose in your checkout process. Allow 5-7 business days for the $2.95 shipping.

For sizing please check the chart at the bottom of this page, it will allow you to match your height and weight. The shoe sizes for the tabi are comparable to regular men's shoes sizes.

The xl would be good height-wise but might be tight around the chest. You could try that as it might be fine, but the safer (albeit baggier) option would be the xxl. XL should be back in stock monday.

by: darksword
10/10/2010 10:34:50 PM
Was this helpful? (0) (0)
The xl would be about right height-wise, but since you specified that you'd like a little extra breathing room I would go with the xxl. I doubt it will be too long for you.

The shoes listed here are in american men's size and tabi are roughly equivalent to your normal shoe size. So if you wear an 11.5 in mens, go with 11 if you'd like them snug or 12 if you want them comfortably loose.

I would probably go with the large willac. It might be a touch short in the cuffs and pant legs, but if you go XL I can promise it will be baggy. A 10 or 11 shoes would be fine depending on if you want it snug or not.

Hey Daemius. Yea I think the XXL would be a little too big for you. We've seen a big increase in demand for XL lately so it took our supply of it by surprise.

Our ninja attire is something we actively stock though so it shouldn't be too long before we have some fresh ones.

need sizing help

I am 5'4.5" but only about 100 lbs - should I order a medium based on my height, even though I'm significantly lighter than the specified weight? Or order a small even though I'm slightly too tall?

Also, are the shoe sizes men's/boys? I wear a 6-6.5 in women's shoes or a 4-4.5 in girls/boys . . . what boot size would be best?

Hi Brad. The x-large will be good for your height, but might be a bit snug. The xx-large will require some folding or hemming of the sleeves and pant legs, but will be more comfortable around the waist.

You would fall somewhere between a large and an extra large. If you go with the large it won't be quite as baggy and big on you, but you might run into a little of short-sleeve syndrome. If you go with the XL the sleeves and pant legs will be fine but it will also be baggier.

Either will work fine, it's just a matter of what you want.

WOW!!!

I did not buy this set, but I bought all these items separately. I think the uniform jacket needs a little work, it's far from perfect. The bokken is a great practice tool, nice weight, yet light enough to wield with ease. The Tabi boots are super comfortable, I'm wearing the ninja pants and tabi boots right now, that's how comfortable everything is (except the jacket...). This is the best price for this item I have ever seen...get it.

P.S. Buy a black brushed cotton karate jacket from this site to replace the jacket with this uniform, it works much better, trust me.
