These sturdy chucks are crafted of natural hardwood. They have chrome studs embedded in the handles to add weight and to give them unique aesthetic appeal. They have been sanded smooth and given a glossy black finish. These chucks are 12" long with a 1" diameter. Repair Kits?

Can someone tell me if there repair kits on Karate Depot or anywhere else for chain-style nunchaku? Or am I just screwed every time they break? This buying new nunchucks every time my old pair breaks stuff's gettin old. Permalink

Tapered Hardwood Bo
A. Hey Jimmy - tapered bos are generally considered better for spinning. The taper makes the ends light and places the center of gravity more dominantly in the middle. Non-tapered bos are considered better for application and bunkai (meaning they can take better beatings because they are thicker). Of course, that is also relevant to wood type. If you want something specific for competitions, taper might be the way to go. If you intend to pursue bunkai and kobudo kumite, go with non-taper.

A. This comes in a pair (two)

Fighting Bo
A. Hey Money - this bo is designed for performance and practice. Ash is a light wood and the taper makes it even lighter. However, this bo will not stand up to repeated abuse through hard contact. You could use it for protection, but it is not ideal for that.

Hey Treva - Unfortunately we do not have any repair kits for chain style nunchaku, and I have been unable to locate any on other sites. Perhaps for your impact training you could switch to corded nunchaku (which has repair kits - http://www.karatedepot.com/wp-nu-33.html), and then use chain for demos and the like.

The ball bearing is very smooth. But it leaves big dents where the studs hit each other. This chuck is faster than normal chucks. Permalink
