When I got the product, they were in great condition. I used them for about a month until I started noticing that they get scratched very easily. Even in a sheath, I would pull them out and they will have a few more scratches. I guess there is always a catch. I still use them today though. They are a great product, I would recommend them for somebody who knows what they are doing, as they might be sharp, and are made of chrome-steel. Good for a flashy demonstration or for display. I suggest you inspect each item before you package it and send it out. One of the swords appaered to have rust or discoloration. When I tried to clean it with metal cleaner, it got worse.  Permalink

I am a wing chun practitioner and was looking for some swords to bash up and not feel bad for it. We practice knifes against a dragon pole, sticks and against another pair of butterfly swords and this pair is a perfect combination of $$$, the metal quality and weight! Could be good for practicing your forms too but I personally prefer a heavier pair for that.   Permalink

Swords were not a pair as in the guards were bent very unevenly. The tape on the handles unraveled on 1st use. 1 blade was bent slightly. The weight & balance was ok. Not bad but could of been better & more even as a pair.  Permalink

As the other reviewer said, this is the best deal you'll find for butterfly swords. The weight is good for training. I haven't had trouble with the grip yet but the piece of tape holding it on is pretty obvious.  Permalink

I ordered a pair for my son for his birthday, I found them to be of such high quality that I ordered a set for myself. They are for training and not combat, they are unsharpened so very versatile for training. Note the price on these is the best on the internet while receiving quality.   Permalink

These set of "butterfly swords" are probably the worst pieces of crap I've ever touched, and yes I realize they were only $29 but still. So what is so bad about them? Where do I begin? First of all one of them came with a slightly bent blade. Also these things are near impossible to weild, it says 2 lbs per sword but they feel much heavier. It's near impossible for me to do my forms with them. Forget flipping them of doing techniques other them butcher style wild swings because the weight of them just ruins it. The balance and dimention just seems way off. These things just suck. If you practice Wing Chun / Baat Jaam Dao form don't get these because they technically aren't even butterfly swords because the handle doesn't line up to the back of the blade.

The only useful thing you could do with these is hang them over your fireplace or something.  Permalink
